I was thinking the same thing Andrew.
Fellow that lives close to my Grandparents built a bender statue to hold his mailbox. It's quite unique. I have a photo of it somewhere.

Yeah. State Highway 21 and old 21 from south St. Louis county. (Tesson Ferry) stopped at a new and growing car cruise called Cruise Lindbergh then drove out 21 ( the highway of blood)and highway 30 for a Sunday drive. Most of the pics are around House Springs, Cedar Hill, Dittmer and other great Missouri cities like that.

Is Ted Drewes still going? There used to be a ton of car activity at his Chippewa location. With todays PC world is that street still called Chippewa? I’m sure it’s offended some group by now. For that matter I’m sure Tesson Ferry is in someone’s cross hairs as well. There are even nice routes through the Katy Trail and down through Bonne Terre and Farmington. Missouri is a beautiful driving state off on the rural routes. Although I was in your old stomping grounds a week or so ago 84 out through the Dalles is some beautiful scenery. Thanks for your pictures. Your Missouri tours always give me a little lump of nostalgia.

Ted Drews is still going and There was a small uprising on the Chippewa thing but fell by the wayside.
The car scene in STL area is going wild. The weather isn’t cooperating tho. It rains or storms on the weekends just enough to screw things up but people are out between the raindrops.
I’ve heard that the Bonne Terre dragstrip is getting better and better. Last time I went to the Sonic Friday night Cruise on Lindbergh the department store parking lots next to it were filled! All types of cars and people…

OMG that’s funny. I hadn’t heard that about the Chippewa dust up. I wish I could say it surprises me. I always just assume anything that has the least bit of ethnicity in it is going to send someone into offense orbit. There used to be an expressway in Arizona called Squaw Peak. Well let me tell that wasn’t gonna stand. We really need to get over ourselves. Funny St.Louis trivia story. At one time There were literally 2 Kings Highways in St.Louis the main one, then there was a route called “2nd Kings Highway “ the city in a move to eliminate confusion, and honer returning soldiers from the civil war renamed the “2nd” Kings Highway to Union. Still the name today. Sorry to bore the rest of you with St. Louis History, but I also find roads fascinating. Without them we couldn’t drive our wagons right?

You are correct. The history lessons are great and going back to those old roads thru someone else’s eyes is always interesting. I’ve found that a lot of us are traveling the same roads just different decades…
