Joe, thanks for sharing these great articles about your wagon! It's awesome that a fellow forum member has received such a prestigious award, global recognition and all the accolades that come with such a honor..... Caballero Longfoofs Rule!
That was great, thank you for sharing the links. Was kind of funny reading parts and thinking "Oh yeah, I remember when that happened" Pretty incredible honor, once again congratulations. And thanks for letting us all live vicariously through you during the process!
Thank you for sharing Joe. It was a great read, amazing work. I didn't realize that it under went so many coats of paint. No wonder the paint is so deep looking.
Well, haven't been on here in a while..........congratulations Joe! Your hard thorough work certainly paid off, that was some stiff competition based on the fotos you showed.
In the latest issue of Hemmings Classic, a guy wrote in that this car was the nicest vehicle he's seen in the 15 years of the magazine, and that Joe should have an "open house" for people to experience it or Joe should go "on tour" with it! Imagine that! Joe on tour with the Buick! Heck look at all the bucks KISS, the Stones, the Eagles, etc. made on their "farewell" tours - even Cher! We could get some T-shirts made up that show all the stops on the tour and charge like $30 for each... But, I was lucky to get a ride last month in Joe's spectacular ride, and the thing that struck me - heck it was like a brand-new 1958 car...it was just that nice.
Thanks for all the nice comments, everyone. I recently drove it on the inaugural EyesOn Design Driving Tour. We drove about 100 miles on local roads in southeast Michigan. It was a great shakedown run and the car ran great! Here it is at the lunch stop, alongside my friend's 1957 Buick Special:
Man, that sounds like it would have been an awesome cruise to experience. Thanks for sharing the photo.
