    Love it! Cars from that era are pure art.

    Am I understanding correctly that its painted to look rusty?

    What a beauty. Is it a Catalina? Those two door hardtops are the best.

    WOW!

    Thanks for the pics.

    Does the chief on the hood ornament still light up? If I remember correctly, it's supposed to.

    From the looks of the background, I'm thinking somebody out there's a Chevelle fan.

    We never saw those up here, on the eastern side of Canada. The back end looks like it came from a 54 caddy. Nicely done on the fake rust. Never thought it would look so real.

    I've got one of those hood chiefs, that a buddy left with me, but I think its for a Canadian model.

    I've always understood the term "rat rod" to be a 1930's roadster stripped down and built for high performance on a tight budget with no regard for appearances.

    @Camber
    What gave you the idea for the "rusty" paint job?
    I kinda like it. Fresh and new, but still looks old.

    i always thought a rat rod..by definition. was a car that was "done" but looked unfinished.

    for example rusted through paint, lowed with chrome wheels or steel discs and sometimes no windows except the windshield.
    i thought the slammed stripped out t-buckets with the above description were rats too.
    and i always understood the flat or satin black cars with red wheels and whitewalls to be called "cali-style rat rods"
    rat rod that steve is talking about

    what im talking about

    cali style
