When a cap's unscrewed, is there just a wall to see or do they set it up as a fake acid pool, for the purpose of looking authentic?
Neither; when you remove the cap, you see the actual contents. You see internal components or just the bottom of the case, depending on which cap you remove.
Okay, so then it's a replica of the old-styled servicable battery and not a camouflaged maintenance-free type
I think it's actually both of those things. It is a maintenance-free AGM battery built into a case that replicates the external dimensions and appearance of the original lead-acid battery.
Hi, just found this chat and I followed the restoration of your car with a lot of interest. Your Buick looks really awesome. Congratulation to this amazing work. I drive a 58er Buick myself and i'm always looking for parts. There are very few of these cars in Germany and I have to get all the parts from the USA. I am looking for seals for the fender mirrors (I just restored the same bat wing mirrors) and can you please tell me where I can buy this glas bowl fuel filter and holder? It would be really great if you could give me a hint. Greetings from Germany, Frank
Welcome Frank. Your Buick’s are very interesting cars. I love Joe’s, and would love to see pictures of yours.
Hi Frank, Vielen Dank! I could not find seals or gaskets for the mirrors, so I made them myself. I think I used 2mm thick rubber, soft enough so the mirror base could indent into the surface of the seal. For the glass fuel filter bowl and housing, contact Frank Lyle. There is great support for all vintage Buicks. I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of your car! Joe
Hi Joe, thank you for the quick response and this helpfull hints. To be honest I have to admit that I am not driving a station wagon like you guys. I own and love my 4 Door Hardtop. I am therefore rather out of place in this forum - but great cars bands us together! Even if my car doesn't really fit in here, here are some pictures
It wasn't your Buick's fault that it wasn't born a wagon. 4-door hardtops are also cool. IMO, sometimes they're more desireable than 2-door hardtops
Love the ‘60. Think it’s one of my favorite Buick’s. Would love a nice 225 flat top, or a snazzy Envicta wagon.
Nanke, I don't own a station wagon myself, although I had one a long time ago, and miss it. My avatar has a pic of my 1979 Ranchero pickup, and the sheet metal is common with the LTD II wagon, so somewhat close. The forum welcomed me, so I do not see any reason why they wouldn't welcome you. BTW, that's an awesome blue on your sedan!
Can’t enlarge my photo big enough. What dealer is it from? By the looks of your photos it looks like there are some nice examples of ole American iron in Germany.
