Nah! After melting the wax in my ears with some good R&B and Rock 'n Roll, I figured I'd go back to Q-tips, Jazz, and pre- and post-WWII music.
They've got this 'Nostalgia' station here that runs on donations to raise money for different charity events and non-profits. They even run the old radio stories - Dick Tracy, The Shadow, etc. BUT what's a real treat is driving down the street with some Nat King Cole tune or some other tunes from the 1930's to 1970's, with the windows down and some kid shaking his head and asking what station it is. If you've got a WIFI system in your car, you can listen too and bug the driver next to you, too! Great stuff while you're online here! Streaming Audio - Live! http://nostalgiawinnipeg.com/
I haven't done much to it since I got it. I need to send the carb to a guy in Washington who is an expert at them. I did sand the graphics off and throw some Rustoleum on the bare spots. I also worked on trying to figure out what brakes it had on it since it has been switched to a different lug pattern. Found out the front has stock stuff modified for 8 lug and the rear is a Dana 60 from a 72 Chevy 3/4T. Front brakes Rear
If that engine isn't an IH six, it might be a Chevy 292 seeing as the rear end is GM. Or maybe a Continental six? I'd just drop a 4-cylinder Cummins 4BT in there backed by a NV4500 and call it a day.
I didn't like the wagon wheel style wheels with the wide tires that came on it so I've been stalking Craigslist for some wheels. I wanted standard looking van wheels. I think stock it came with anything from 16"-20". I found some 16" Chevy van wheels with tires for $40.I had to pick them up in my Mustang since the Eagle is down. The extra weight of those wheels sure slowed down that little 4 banger. I'm waiting to hear back from a wheel guy for some center caps. I wanted to go with a hup cap like in the first pic here but the full floater axle won't allow it.
I saw a local one at a carshow in WA, it had a bog dairy cow with gold flake on the collar, in poly white with black moo moo accents. it also had a horn that went MOOOOOOOOO. quite hilarious actually.
I would have liked to see pics of that. Saturday we did a rear brake job on the Metro. My buddy Mike Woolf did majority of the work since he is working off the price of my 81 Eagle he's getting from me. Being that it is a Dana 60 from a Chevy truck, the parts were cheap as heck and all in town. New pads, he rebuilt the wheel cyilinders and installed new springs. Also installed new axle seals. Mike I didn't have any black paint around but I did have a new can of Anodized Bronze laying around and for the heck of it painted my "new" wheels. I really like it and have decided not to install hub caps and paint the bottom half of the van bronze also similar to the illustration.
