It's been forever and a day since I posted on these forums, and I'm sad to say that I will be parting ways with my beloved station wagon. It is a 1990 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser, and it was my first real car. I have a lot of wonderful memories involving the old "Griswold, " but unfortunately the car has become worse for the wear mechanically and cosmetically over the last seven years since I bought it. I don't have the time, money, or know-how to give the Griswold the TLC it needs to be fully restored. If anyone out there is interested in a project wagon, this is the one for you! I haven't listed it on Craigslist here in Raleigh because I fear that someone would buy it and use it as a junk vehicle for parts or simply scrap it. You never know what happens when you sell a vehicle, but it would make me happy to know that the Griswold is going to a wagon enthusiast who has the ability to do a full restoration. I'd love to see the Griswold ride again! Currently the car runs and drives, but it has a long list of problems. Below is a link to the classifieds ad. If anyone is interested in buying it, let me know. I am in Raleigh, NC, and I can make arrangements to meet you partway. http://www.stationwagonforums.com/f...ldsmobile-custom-cruiser-station-wagon.46701/ Happy trails!
It's always hard, but sometimes a change is a good thing. keep looking for another, I am. Even harder as in my case, selling a wagon to 2 doors down from me, seeing it everyday and even weirder seeing it driven with other dogs in the back Still have friends I only see once in a while drive rite past my house to my old wagon, stop, look, then back up to my house asking me 'WTF?"
Sometimes it's best to let it go than let it sit and rust away. No matter what the next buyer says any car can end up a rat rod, demo derby car, be chopped, dropped, and modified beyond recognition. Then again, the right buyer may restore or modify just enough to make a great cruiser or driver. Ask a fair price, mention what you'd like to see done, then walk away. At least Tedy's wagon is being used the way it was meant to, hauling dogs, projects, and people.
You're right, ModelT1. I know that there is no way to know what ultimately happens to my car, but I'm hoping the right buyer will come up who wants to restore it.
