This is a clever ad made for GM Holdens evolution of the ute from the first to the current model. (Not sure if you use the term ute?)

We usually call them 'Minos, after the iconic Chevrolet El Camino. No one is selling one in North America at this time. :(
I would love to have one of those older Holden utes, but I'd need a bigger garage. Then I could park it next to the Mopar six cylinder hemi that was never built or sold on this side of the planet.

We ALMOST got that latest Holden 'ute here - to be called the Pontiac G8 ST, for "Sport Truck". I saw the pre-production prototype for it at the last Los Angeles auto show. It was even marked "coming spring 2009", I think.

Well, we know happened there, don't we?
    Awsome video, BTW.

"What is a ute?" One of my favorite parts of the movie "My Cousin Vinny".

Yeah, it's a shame. We were all geared up to send the new wagons as well!!
I don't think it will happen anymore? Sounds like the new GM is going to be run according to Washington??!

Yeah, GM and Chrysler have both had to cut their development programs to the bone. Chrysler announced that they have suspended development of the light-duty Cummins diesel that was to go in their 1500 series pick-ups and sport utilities. GM has cancelled a lot of models that generated limited sales - some of the Chevy Cobalt 'SS' stuff, etc. Other programs as well that I can't remember. Pontiac was still supposed to be selling the Vibe, built by the NUMMI plant in San Jose, Calif., but I understand that's been killed, too. (NUMMI is the GM / Toyota joint venture - also builds the Toyota Matrix (same vehicle as the Vibe - just a different body))

Yes, GMH did the same down here with Toyota, Ford did it with Mazda. I think this is called "Badge Engineering":) The bodies were the same, grilles & lights changed and the badge changed.
