Been missing my old truck, sooo......

That stuff is going back to the kid I got it from, it belonged to his late grandpa so I told him he could have it back.
The Forklift is my dad's favorite antique toy, he loves to fire it up and move things around!

Slept in this morning until 8am and did it feel great!!! Wife made plans for both of us to go to a party for 1:30 today. My plan was put new exhaust manifold gaskets on engine, the motor mounts just basically goof off but get it ready to drop in next weekend after work. About 12:30 I hear the sound of the forklift coming around the shop. My dad seen I was messing with the motor and came to get it back in the truck. So, I got more than I planned done this weekend thanks to my dad and his trusty forklift! Now next weekend I can get it hooked up after I get home from work.

 

I'm going to need some tires on this thing when I get it going, lucky for me, I know just the place I originally planned to run 235/70R15 front 275/60R15 rear but as I was looking today I found a 235/75R15 with a 1 7/8" white wall. What started as a joke in the shop got me looking at pictures of '73 to '80 C10 with WW. Most had hub caps or wheel covers but some had the pick-up rally wheels with a WW and I liked it. The 1" and the 1 7/8" both looked good, any bigger looked to me like it belonged on the earlier generations of trucks. I never could find the Corvette style rally with a WW so not sure how they look but I'm going to keep looking and may go with White Walls.

 

White Wall tires will look good with that color.
You're lucky to have a dad like you have. One with a fork truck that likes old vehicles is even better!

I could no longer get the 1 3/4" or 1 7/8" white wall through our vendors so went with the Hankook Optima H724 235/75R15 XL tire instead with a 1" WW I believe.

 

I predict wide whites will return on new cars.
I've seen black walls shaved at car shows to make the white below show and become white walls.
Are all tire sides actually white rubber? My Impala would look good with wide whites.

Mostly people now are too lazy to clean tires and wheels. Maybe I should forget about white walls.

 

Funny thing is, I don't see Westley's Bleche-Wite around anymore. Man, that stuff worked great, even on curb scuffs!

 

That's because Westley's got bought out by Black Magic, I think they changed the formula a bit because of EPA requirements or something... I heard it's not as effective, but I've never tried the stuff.

Edit to add: I have used simple green with good results, don't know its long term effects or what it does to curb rash though.

I used Purple Power on the white letters on my Tundra's tires and it seems to work pretty good!

 

I've used all that crap on White Walls. But my 55 wagon with new white walls still has that blue protectant on them for over two years. Can't drive it with all the parts off my son borrowed.
My Impala with black walls is self cleaning. I just drove in a rainstorm and they look like new.

 

Hey at least you got white walls, you could have gotten the inserts, then they'll balloon out and pop, making all the folks at the car show jump.

 

Didn't get much accomplished over weekend, plan was to have it running Saturday. I don't have much left, a fuel line, transmission cooler, put the carburetor on and a fan shroud. Maybe on hold for a few weeks, my mother-in-law has had some health issues come up over the weekend so if anyone has a few extra minutes please say a little prayer for her, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'd like a set of those Hankooks for the Way-Back Machine, but I want them in 235/70-15 instead of 235/75-15. And I don't think they offer that size.
