    Nope, we did also.

That is a nice wagon ( the Falcon)and it is sad that the home of the wagon (N-America) has none to offer. OK, the Fution is in limbo, iis it or is it not a wagon? I think it is, too bad there front wheel drive And have no roof rack.

Oh,,,those General Motors trunks!..They could get awfully long.Longer than the hoods, sometimes. The trunk was most of the extra length to a Fleetwood Brougham Sedan DeVille.

The back end looked a little longer than the last few Taurus wagons I've seen, but it IS in Australia---and maybe they actually like adequate cargo space there...And I think you're right, the rest of it looks fairly Taurusy...A roofrack and woodie! :yup:

We used to have the taurus down here and it seems it might be making a come back next year according to this article. (Not sure if they'll make a wagon)

Well a piece of Australian Motoring History is now gone. The Ford Falcon Wagon, under order of the Ford Motor Co is no more.

Looks like we'll be seeing the Mondeo platform as the Ford Falcon Wagon replacement.??? There is also talk of the local Ford Falcon being completely replaced by the same platform!!

If only the Australian Ford Falcon could have been exported I'm sure Ford devotees would have embraced the look and power of this large car.

Motoring history in Australia is usually discussed in terms of the Ford Falcon v's GMH, this is the motoring rivalry we enjoy down here and it is sad to think that it will soon be gone.

Yeah, that's sad. The last Falcon that was sold in the U.S. was way back in '70 or '71 I believe, and it wasn't really a Falcon - just a rebadged and de-contented Ford Torino (mid-sized car). The last 'original-sized' Falcon was '69. The Pinto didn't really 'replace' the Falcon. It was thought more of as a very small import-fighter.

We do have a station wagon for sale now, built it the U.S. Would you believe it's a Cadillac? The CTS.

I was in Australia a few months back, and there are hardly any Falcon Wagons left now. Most people drive a rather ugly 4wd crossover called the Ford Territory.
As such, the best Ford will do is rehash the clunking old model, which this car is. The car seems outmoded in all sorts of ways.
I'd go for a 6.2 litre Commodore wagon if I lived in Australia, a far more contemporary design.

hmm at least ford AU got the engine right.

the 4.0 straight six which is basically the same engine that was in the old 60's falcon only updated with DOHC etc.

and, ford has the balls to do in AU what they wont take a chance on here
the ford 330ci (5.4)V8 in the falcon....mind you, that car is about the size of the old taurus. that thing has to be wicked fast! not to mention the falcon ute....id rock that in a second!

i wish we had the cars you guys do. id love a diesel land cruiser tray!

There were plenty of these around Toowoomba when I was there last Christmas.
They don't sound very good, though. The Land Rover 3.6 litre TDV8 we get here in UK Range Rovers has a slight diesel rattle at idle and low revs which disappears as you accelerate, leaving a proper and very smooth V8 burble.
