 Too funny! Sorry, I miss wrote - it's a 4x4, with only 20K miles. As for "looking good" in the car, funny you should mention that. My G'ma was all of about 5'2" and 108 soak-n-wet, so imagine this little old lady in this huge boat! Too cute. :)

Another good point! I will call the guys down at the shop whom have been my G'ma's mechanics for years (also friends), and see if I can get her up on a lift this week for pics. Thx for the tip! (y)

I believe you told me that this was a good point a page or so ago in this thread. All I'm saying is...if you skirt the underside rust issue...you are only lying to yourself, lying to us and lying to any prospective buyer. In the long run, it would not be worth it. I'm not saying you ARE skirting the underside rust issue...I'm saying, for your own edification and peace of mind, don't.

Yes, and I still think you are making good points on the rust issue – which is why I have credited you for pointing them out to me.

But SilverFox I have to ask - do you honestly think if I were trying to skirt/lie/mislead or deceive anyone, that I would have offered to take it to my G’ma’s mechanics and have the car placed on a lift for detailed photos? (This was a good idea that you suggested.)

Not to mention, a potential buyer when they comes to see the car, will obviously look under the car and see for themselves – so that would be pretty stupid on my part, to lie about it.

Anyway, I am sorry, I didn't mean to come across as trying to skirt the rust issue - while in fact, I am trying to do the exact opposite. My plan is to take very detailed pictures of this car, from top to bottom, and then post them here – in hopes of maybe getting an idea of what to list this car at.

The whole reason I posted here in the first place, is so that I could get some help and honest information on this car. Because whatever I learn from you guys, will help me to avoid dealing with a dishonest buyer that might try to take advantage of my lack of knowledge on this car.

As you probably have figured by now, I am not a mechanic, nor am I a car expert, and I know absolutely nothing about this car. So to all of you whom have posted your advice on what to look for (BTW thank you again), I really am trying my best to do everything you guys have suggested.

The car is not in my driveway/or garage (no room), so I am not able to check everything you guys suggest as soon as I read your post. Which is why I am taking notes, and then when I get back over to where the car is, I figured I’d do my best to see what’s what.

Again...I'm not saying you ARE skirting the issue. I'm simply trying to convince you of its importance. MANY ebayers will tell you, as a buyer, to ask questions and give you all sorts of pix to look at in the ad. They give long ambiguous answers to your questions. EXCEPT those answers that you asked for...those questions regarding rust. I know this because I have been looking for just the right wagon for a year or so. Statements like..."No apparent rust"..."No visible rust"..."Rust free body"..."CA car"..."FL car"..."Never seen snow".........mean nothing and do not answer the original question. > "Where is the rust and how bad is it? Please send pix". How many times have you seen what LOOKED like a perfect car sell on ebay only to return again and again. Ever ask yourself why? I'm glad you asked for help here and would be even more glad if you do take the advice you get here. You won't find a nicer, more knowledgable or more honest bunch of guys collected in one place on the internet. Anywhere. People here are honest to a fault about their respective wagons and can smell a fraud a mile away. We are here to help if it's help you want. By the way...I may even be interested in your wagon. But don't make me come there to find a rust bucket.

EDIT to KK....I am not angry here nor am I being accusatory to CatSaf. I am simply trying to give him the best advice I can and be certain that he realizes its importance. In his last post he seemed to feel I was accusatory. That was not the case and is not the case. If my post seemed that way I apologize to CatSaf. My advice, nevertheless, holds its original weight.

LOL You're too funny! Actually, I look pretty darn good in my new car - so I think I'll keep it. ;)

Thank you for your apology. Since I don't know you, or your style of writing, I really wasn't sure what to think. No harm, its water under the bridge. :)

Anyway, back to the subject at hand...

I totally understand what you are saying about the rust issue, as well as understand it's importance. I certainly don't want to waste anyone's time (or mine), especially if they are coming across state lines to see the car. Either way, whether it's a local sale or out-of-state, I want to be as honest about the car as possible.

Since the car has been sitting in the garage for 1.5 years, I need to call the insurance agent to place insurance on the car, as well as call the mechanics to see when I can bring the car in for a lift view. While there, I might as well have them look the car over, make sure that there are no leaks, has enough oil etc. (a basic check-up).

Also, I may try including the car in the estate sale this upcoming weekend. If it doesn't sell (for a reasonable offer), then I may try Craig's list, and or eBay. But I will let you know (as well as someone else that PM'd me) about the car, before I go either of those routes - in case you guys are interested.

Thanks again for all your help; I will post more detailed pics hopefully later this week. :)

No problem CatSaf...sometimes I get passionate about some things and it can come off the wrong way. Just trying to help you have a successful sale.

No, you don't look good in your new car, people lauph at you:rofl2: and wonder why your not in that wagon:yup:

And back to the subject at hand......

Putting insurance on that car or any car that is up for sale is a must IMO if you want real $ for it. Myself, I deal with beaters under 2 grand to flip flop at times and the first question I ask when buying is "is it insured for a test drive?" If the answer is no that drops my interest big time because every thing can run great/drive great....in some ones drive way. I hav'nt bout a car in over ten years that could'nt be road test driven. I transfer insurance on every beater I sell so it can be driven, a full tank of gas helps sales also:yup:

Let me find an ad I'm running now, yous it as an example maybe.....be rite back

OK, I sould update the ad, I've put a couple hundred miles on the car now BUT I really don't care if it sells (had offers but I'm firm on price)....I have no for sale sign on/in it:naughty:, just this ad.

It's been fun for a go getter and the part about the wife not caring is a joke, she told me to put that in there. :biglaugh:, maybe she does'nt care:confused::rofl:

Be honest and not like this ad, put all the pics you can in. If you Craigslist attach a link to Photobucket etc thats full of detailed pics.

Absolutely! I would NEVER buy a car (new or used) without a good test drive. Just as one doesn't buy shoes without trying them on, same with a car IMO. And I agree, filling it up with a full tank is also a plus. (y)

Thx for sharing the ad, since I've never sold a car before (always a trade-in person), this will be helpful. Don't know if it will make it to the point of an online ad, but good to see some samples.

And I bet if you (as well as other people) were not able to test drive it - it's STILL sitting in the barn!
