Yes, Pike's Peak is on my bucket list. Also, you mentioned Royal Gorge, are you referring to the tourist railroad that follows the original Denver & Rio Grande through Royal Gorge? If so, that one's also on my bucket list.

I've driven by the Colorado National Monument several times and have yet to stop at it. I drove by it this past Saturrday while driving a company truck from Simi Valley to Denver. One day I'll make it there.
I've been to Pikes Peak before it was paved to the top.

Garden Of the Gods is pretty cool, also.

Mt. Evans should be on your list, also. It's the highest paved motorway in the US.

Well, for the reason of the 'highest' paved motorway, he should also go through the I-70 Eisenhower tunnel, the highest Interstate Highway segment at mlre than 11,000 feet. Unless he has heart trouble like I do. Low oxygen is so bad!

I sometimes play doctor on the internet. Roll the windows down while at the bottom. As you begin the climb roll all windows up and turn off the heater or AC.
When you reach the top do not open the doors, roll down windows, or get out. Try not breathing so often then you can remain at the top longer before you have to hurry back down for fresh air!:eek:

I used to go hunting that way before the tunnel was completed and I-70 was a two lane road. You had to go over the pass above the tunnel. There were no guard rails and you could look over the edge and see vehicles at the bottom who went over the edge. One time it was in a blinding snowstorm with about 15' of visibility driving a pickup with a slide-in camper in the bed.

The only thing I'd be thinking about on the whole vacation is why my car that's sitting at home won't run.
The only thing I'd want to do is get it over with so I could get back home and work on my car.
The worst part is...is that I'm being totally serious.:(:D
