I pass by a nice white '92 Custom Cruiser wagon daily... went by yesterday and now they have a for sale sign in it... $1350! I would buy it, but I have too many cars and need to focus on my '72.

Also, it dont have woodgrain and thats a must on a wagon for me. :) I never understood why Olds didnt offer woodgrain on the 91-92 Custom Cruiser, or did they? I have never seen one with it... have only seen it on the Caprice and Roadmaster wagons of that era, but I am thinking Chevy didnt offer it until '93 or am I wrong?

If anyone is interested, I can get the phone # though.

    Correctamundo......
No woodgrain on the Custom Cruiser because they had the lower silver accent color instead. Also correct on the Caprice woodgrain - not offered until '93 on the B-bodies I believe.

    thats the next one i want a 92 with a 350.

why did they kill it in 1992 instead of letting it ride to 96 with the rest of the herd?

oh yea....throw some pics up if you stop to look

The clamshells and box wagons from Olds had the 'wood'.

If you guys are talking about the boxy generation of GM wagons that came from the Eighties, then I've seen a few Oldsmobile Custom Cruisers with woodie, here in SoCal.More in the past then recently.Usually blue.Even Ciera Cruisers with woodie.Usually blue...And the ones that were the same size as the early Eighties Malibus. With woodie.Usually blue...If it's the later generation you guys are talking about,I saw a car show on TV where a guy here in LA did a rather tame custom, by putting the front clip from an Oldsmobile on a Buick wagon, because the Buick wagons had the "Vista Cruiser windows" in the roof. And they're supposed to be on Oldsmobiles...:yup:

Thanks. Thats what I thought. I think it was only the 91-92 Buick that had woodgrain those years?

I often asked myself that too, but I guess Olds sales were slacking by then. I always wondered why Pontiac didnt offer a wagon at all after 1989. The Pontiac didnt even last until 1990, much less the new 91 style. I wish they had of. I try to imagine a "Pontiac" header panel on these wagon. :)

Yeah, I see alot of those around here. I know of four 80s Olds Custom Cruisers with woodgrain - light blue or dark blue, but we had a friend with one that was that gold/brown color with woodgrain... it was an '86 - he bought it new.

Yeah, I even see a 1985 Cutlass Cruiser wagon (with woodgrain) in the parking lot at work occasionally. It has the Olds sport steering wheel, Olds alloy wheels, etc. A nice little wagon, but some woodgrain is going bad!

Oh, that local wagon (92) for sale looks like the below wagon, only it has Olds wheels (factory).

I will try to get a photo.

If I ever purchased a '95/'96 B-body wagon, one of my ideas would be to turn it into the B-body Bonneville Safari that Pontiac should have made. The lower silver on the Custom Cruiser could be modified to give that 'Bonneville' look on the sides. The CC grill could be modified easily into a Pontiac split grill. Another option would be to use a Caddy Fleetwood front clip (cool headlamp assy's), but that would require much more modification. Heck, a lot of the B-body modders are putting in Bonneville seats, why not just make the whole thing a Bonneville?

Who knows, maybe somebody has done, or is doing this already........

i think the safari was killed because gm was trying to concrete the "performace" image of pontiac...because the parisienne (sp) was killed at the same time. neither fit the "sporty" image. i would think a 95-98 bonny grill could be an easy mod.

The TV show was talking about a certain year, which one,I don't know...This one looks quite nice. Here in SoCal,it's either the more numerous Chevy wagons, some of which have been turned in to SS's,or the less numerous Buick wagons.Maybe the rarity of the Oldsmobiles made these people think none existed...Explorers were around for several years, before I found out that there were two-doo "Sport" models.

And,along with the proper name tags,or complete lack there-of,it's be a truly one-off car...AND,it'd be sporty!.. What were they thinking? Now,Pontiac is gone, could it be they got too specialized? And how does a Montana mini-van fit into the "performance image"? All the Safari and Parisienne needed to be sporty was the proper suspension package. MBZ does it with AMG. They didn't have to make them $100,000 wagons for them to perform.

(1)don't forget the five speed manual option:clap:
(2)I've seen a few Montanas, they're just minivans :slap:
Although, they are most likely Opel or Vauxhall minivans in disguise(y)

I also often wondered what a rwd b-body Pontiac and Oldsmobile sedan would have looked like in the 91-96 range.
