I want to remind you that my beloved Ford Motor Company has not taken any taxpayer money.....NEVER. Last month the "Mustangs Across America" tour took place. At the final stop in Birmingham Alabama one of the Ford executives made a point that FOMOCO does not intend nor will they request any aid from the government. He got a standing ovation and the applause went on for several minutes.:2_thumbs_up_-_anima

A news item yesterday was that three folks, one of them racing car driver Carl Edwards picked up a new 2010 Fusion hybrid with a full tank of gas and drove it to Washington D.C. They managed 1477 miles on one tank of gas. 81.5 mpg in a completely stock off the showroom Fusion. They admit to taking very careful gas milage driving. Coast to red lights, accelerate slowly and using the brakes only when necessary. The trip consisted of highway, secondary roads and in D.C. city driving. They did not take extreme (dangerous) measures to save gas such as coasting down hills in nuetral or shutting off the power train. Ford claims 700 miles per tank.

The point is that Ford could not accomplish any feat such as this on the government dole. The dole requires too much interference and costs way too much.

    Well said, tbird. well said.

Both Chrysler and GM were run by bean-counters, not vehicle people. The vehicles were a means to play fast and loose in investments and takeovers. Ford's vehicle was money to invest in their future as an automotive producer.

And who's buying them up? Fiat, run by an automotive CEO, even if our tax dollars are financing the deal. Fiat's dealing for Opel and trying to regain part of the Lada ownership from Russia.

Hope that monster corp doesn't come oinking for more.

Shawn...Please transfer all your pix and intro info to the "INTRODUCE YOURSELF" section. You can leave it here as well but, as you can see, the trend on our wagon site here leans toward hi-jacking. We all seem to do it for some reason or another. You have a wealth of knowledge about engines and cars in general and many here would love to pick your brain to gain info about their respective wagons. If you also post the info that you posted in this thread in the other section I have suggested, more people will go there to welcome you and be exposed to your talents. There are many areas of your expertise that would be valuable to many members here. I am well aware of your encyclopedic memory regarding just about any part of any performance car out there. I'm sure others will be amazed and thankful to have you here as a member. Just copy and drop it in the "Introduce Yourself" section. Thanks.

Sometime last week maybe in the Lounge. Check under members list and his handle then recent posts. It might have been a PM to me, also. We're like Avis right now, Number two, but we try harder.

Trust me, we aren't the apple of his eye. I doubt he'd have enough energy left to get mad! :D

The Olds guys ARE bad. It's not always this bad here. Really. Just sometimes worse than others. I do wish they would have allowed you to converse with others though. The problem seems to be getting much worse. I hope you will post above as I suggested. Maybe they will leave you alone there.
