Vin# should also be on the tag on the drivers door if it's an original door and it's readable

Why no further action on this Pontiac at this junk yard price?

The seller's not at the house with the car in the yard all the time and when he sent me the VIN on the title it was written down wrong; the notary recorded a 7 as a Z.

On another note, dkarshuk03, I need to know what you're willing to pay for the shell if it's in good shape and whether I deliver it or not.

So this rare and loaded Pontiac clam is still another scrap candidate at $400? No more pics?

It's in limbo at the moment. Thanks for the reminder.

BTW, I'm a bit clueless about titling a vehicle from Massachusetts. Undoubtedly I can Google it, though I'm just saying - how can I re-title this car since it has the wrong VIN on it?

Even better than Google...... contact the motor vehicle department in your state

He said they wrote down a digit of the VIN wrong (Z instead of a 7 or similar).

Yeah, that's it. The error is on the title, not the car.

Problem is most of the time the registered owner is the one who has to do that. Through sheer laziness or cheapness, they usually don't and will pass the buck off to someone else to do it. Same with "just needs..." type repairs - if it was that easy and cheap and would instantly make the car worth 10X more they'd do it, but in reality it isn't easy OR cheap. California was always a pain if there was ANY discrepancy on a title when bringing in an out of state car with a VIN mismatch - instant CHP referral and if they didn't like what they saw they held the car until you went to a hearing over it. If someone buys this car, takes it to their DMV and tries to get it registered and the VIN discrepancy is noticed, they may refuse to do the transfer and then you've got a mess.
