The quote for SEMA's press release was a little.....oh I don't care kind of approach. They just disagree with the application of the program.

Not the kind of thing you'd expect from SEMA.

    was only joking

Was only joking about Pontiac Potomacs. That's why I put the winky face next to the sentence...The rest of it was serious... Although, restomoding a Parisienne wagon into The Pontiac Potomac is sounding like a good idea now...Make it an electric car so it doesn't get mpg's at all...NEVER have to trade it in on something that gets better mpg's...That'll perplex them...

I know... There was a show on green planet a few months ago that I have been trying to find the link for. In Cali a guy took a 67or 68 Camaro pulled the engine out left the trans and pulled out other components that go with a gas engine. He then adapted a electric motor to the transmission. they showed him doing a burn out and driving about 200 miles on a charge. I still can't find it.

The Post Office had a fleet of electric mail trucks for a while. They had to take them all back, because of bad battery management. The electric mail trucks were way faster than the gasoline ones.Going bio-diesel has gotten way popular here in SoCal.Some guys even run prosperous businesses converting cars for people who can't do it themselves. It's saving a lot of old MBZ's from the wrecking yards.Colony Parks come with big engine bays,I'm thinking there has to be a Ford diesel block that'll fit in there.Maybe even bolt right on to the tranny.

the enigne you'd want is the 7.3 powerstroke its indestructable...but its a huge block and the turbo is mounted on top so you'd have to move it or get a hoodscoop. im sure it can be done ...if they put a duramax in a 65 impala coupe a stinker in your mercury has to be a possibility. maybe a cummins 4bte will work? (the motor from a fedex truck) or a 4 cyl perkins.

I'm not allergic to hood scoops...Have been thinking about one on my wagon, for several wagons now.Remember thinking my 77 Aspenwagon would do well with one of those Gran Fury 383's and a scoop for better breathing...Heard somewhere there's an inline six diesel that might go under the hood of my Mercury.Obviously, those MBZ diesels would. It's been a very long time since MBZ made a car anywhere near the size of mine...I've seen one,to be truthfull, and the lady that owned said she had to look far and wide for it...Was just hoping for one fron FoMoCo,so I woulsn't be Frankensteining it too much...MBZ does start with Merc...

Here's what the engine compartment looks like:

The same engine was also available in the Mark VII. Around '84 - 85, but not many were sold.

Looks right wheelbase wise to be a Fox. Was it the Mark IV or V that was a Fox Lincoln? hmmm.
