Can anyone provide me with details on the 71-72 Squire wagons? I have seen a couple with the same interior as the LTD Brougham and advertised as having the "Brougham" interior options, but I dont ever recall it in the sales brochures, but dont really think I have ever seen a complete 71 or 72 Ford wagon brochure. Anyone have one and have pages of it they can scan or email me, or know if it lists the Brougham interior?

Now I know for a fact that the 1973 and up Ford Country Squires had a Brougham interior option and was quite popular, but you rarely see it on the 71-72 models.

    Thanks.

Thanks Norm. Yeah, I checked that and the info on the wagon is vague and the type is small on that '72 Ford brochure, but I could see enough of it where it says it has a optional "luxury vinyl trim"... I am guessing this may mean the interior. There is a seperate brochure available for the wagon, but its not on that site.

Here is a popular 1972 Ford wagon ad that presents the LTD Country Squire and Gran Torino Squire... look closely and it looks like the Country Squire has that optional Brougham seating....

Wow, this is a GREAT question. I am looking at two items I have on hand in front of me. One is "90 Years of Ford" By: George H. Dammann. On page 444, for 1972 full size Ford Country Squire Wagons, it says:

"No longer did Ford consider the 6-passenger and 10-pass. wagon as separate models and thus the Country Squire, the Style 71H designation stood for both cars. Now the 10 pass. wagon was simply the s/w with optional dual facing rear seats. Still an official part of the LTD line, the Country Squire not only turned out to be the best selling style overall. A total of 121,419 left the plants, helping to make Ford the undisputed King of Wagons. IN basic 6 pass. form, the Country Squire this year cost $4,318 and weighed 4,308 lbs. The deluxe wheel covers and roof rack on this model were extras. Also available on full size wagons this year, but seldom seen, was the vinyl top option for $148. New for the year was a semi-transparent wood-tone siding, which allowed a hint of the body color to show through, especially in bright sunlight."

The picture below it, is the same car in the ad for for 1972. In 1995, I was in New Mexico for a Boy Scout camp, behind the K.O.A. there where cars that where "dumped". There was a '71 or '72 CS that had the engine gone and was sitting in the brush, I do remember clear as day, the inter was the same as the pic on the printed ad from '72.
This is what the same book said for the 1971 C.S.:

"As before, the Country Squire was located in the LTD series, and was available as the 10-pass Style 71, or the 6-pass Style 71H. As a 6 -pass, it cost $4,308 and weighed 4,308 ($1 per lb) while the 10-pass form it cost $4,496 and weighed 4,358 lbs. Since no breakout was made in production figures between the two models, the combined CS sales of 130, 644 was enough to rank the car in third place in total Ford sales. New on the option list was a doorgate washer and wiper. The roof rack with its built in wind defector also assisted in helping keep dirt and road splash from sticking to the rear window. Included with the Squire, in addition to the imitation wood trim, was pleated vinyl upholstery, power window doorgate, and deluxe wheel covers."

I also have in front of me, a dealer poster from 1971 "America Your 1971 Fords Are Ready" and under its "wagons options":

"Better ideas include: Doorgate washer......, Lockable side storage and carpeted cargo area, Front seat power controls for all door locks including doorgate, Squire Luxury Trim, and more"

I know this dose not give you a cemented responce, but from what I am seeing now in front of me. It looks like the Brougham was a differant model in the LTD line up for '71 and '72. But I'm gona do more digging...now I'm interisted on this.

Ok, still no luck, but this is really neat. The Factory Manuals on CD!
    http://www.detroitironis.com/

On the Ford-Forums, they give a bit of a blurb about different models in their Classifieds header.
    http://www.ford-forums.com/index.php

This is the one for the LTD:

"The LTD designation is considered by some an abbreviation of "Luxury Trim Decor" and by others as a limited body style classification for the Galaxie. There is evidence that it originally stood for "Lincoln Type Design." It was to be called the Galaxie 500 LTD, in reference to the introduction of the Chevrolet Caprice and the similar Dodge Monaco and Polara."

And this fellow has a great site for Fox Fairmont/Zephyrs with brochures. He's also a member here (don't recall his handle). You might ask him where the brochure sites are?:

I know more about the '73-'78 Country Squires than the early models. I would like to find a '69-'72 model though.....

Yes, the Ford Wagon has a Fuel Injection nameplate on the tailgate. The others, I don't know. We can't get in and the guy is really aloof. You call, leave a message, and he calls back a day or two later. Cut and Dried kinda guy. Prices are decent though. He wanted $1,250 for a Fox LTD, 2 years ago.

Remember that when you see a restored Canadian car. It's like reviving a ghost. Especially the eastern cars. Western Cars have a huge advantage. Roadsalt doesn't work under -15C (-28F). Our winters rarely get above -30F and usually stay at -50F.

The eastern guys think we've got the best project cars, and we drool over your AZ and NM cars.

Cars and trucks are not so bad here if you take your time and look. I got my truck for $300. and in decent shape for it's age.

    Thanks for that information!

Yeah, there was a "LTD Brougham", that was a different trim line than the "LTD". Exterior was basically the same, but the interior was much more luxurious. I have seen some 71-72 Country Squire wagons with the all-vinyl interior with the same consistant pattern, but this Brougham option adds more luxurious seats and door panels identical to the Brougham sedan (which had alot of woodgrain, padded cloth panels and cut-pile carpeting on the lower door panels).
