You also live in the state with the country's most horrible penitentiary. When screws mention "FSP" to unruly inmates, they automatically back off wearing their tails between their legs. Naughty prisoners from other jails were sent there, as punishment. So, you can imagine what songs they used to write about "getting what shoved" when they got back, Sir

Good for you, glad you have a job you like. That makes life a lot better.
I'm hoping to sell my business in the next year and retire.

I'm gonna retire and move to Illinois.:biglaugh:
Is selling and changing tires all day a tiring job? :)
I suppose someday 1tireman can retire from retiring other people's vehicles and move to a retirement village with new tires on his wagon. ;)

I'd be wary about certain persons entering your shop

If tires come up mising during inventory, your boss might dock your pay

Congrats. Hope it works out better for you. I put in my notice a few days ago, no idea what I'm going to do, but I can't stand all the traveling.

I surely understand. Getting home at 7:30 every night got old. I was doing it at first to try to get back to where it use to be and everybody enjoy work but when I quit had no game plan, it was one of those things that because of my morals I had to quit. At one time I had freedom to work with customers, under new management he had the say and it was never what you suggested but I drew the line when WE misdiagnosed a car of a good customer and I was told to do the $245 worth of needless work since it was approved (but that was under the assumption that was the problem), then try to sell the $100 of actual work it needed and to top it off this customer is a regular, good customer but I wouldn't do that to anyone. I refused and expressed my displeasure and concern of where the business was headed. I was told "Resign if I did not like my job!" So I had my customer pay $100 for proper repair and promptly quit! Would do it again in that situation!
You can compromise many things but my morals and reputation is not one!

It must have been the right choice because a week later I found this ad for a assistant manager at this chain of tire stores that operate in Louisiana and Mississippi. I e-mailed them, got a interview and a week later they called me back and offered me the job! So far so good, I am enjoying it and the workers are really nice and helpful! It is still early I know but I have to believe it will stay this way!

The best of luck in the new job. You surely did the right thing with the customer at the old place. It will not take long for that kind of shoddy dealings to catch up with them!

So working on my 2nd month at the new job and must say it is still great! Have my first Saturday off in 7 weeks, Manager decided he is comfortable enough with me for us to start rotating Saturdays. I had forgot what it was like to enjoy my job. The district manager told me all the guys in the shop and my manager gave me a great review to the owner last week when he visited.
It's a small shop with 6 employees, 7 counting district manager that calls our store his "home" store, so anyway what started as a joke my first day has turned into a routine. On my first day I brought 10 sausage biscuits to the guys and told them I was the smart a$$ at my old job that would say "New guy has to buy biscuits!" So I figured they had one of those guys too. Without missing a beat one of the mechanics said "We do now!" So I have continued bringing sausage biscuits once a week to show my appreciation because I get commission on work they do. It makes them happy and happy workers are much more productive!
That's my novel for now just wanted to share. Oh yeah, kids told me I am not grumpy anymore!!! I didn't even realize I was starting to be a grumpy old man! :)

The anti-grumpiness biscuits I've been served were not the sort you could buy commercially. They were home-made and seemed differently sized and shaped, despite them not holding still for meto get a closer look
