Looks like one of those 3D movies was playing, and looks like it was a western movie with people riding on horseback. Amazing how the image just seems to come right out of the screen towards the audience.

:biglaugh:Yes I remember horsing around at the drive-inn movies.
Even since retiring in 1994 we went to a drive in south of Kenosa, Wisc. and right downtown Waukegan, Ill set up on a large screen in a parking lot. A few more times outside Ocala, Fl at the old drive in/-now flea market.
There are still a few drive in movies left and some reopened.

There's a 3-screen one across Puget Sound and past Bremerton that's still in operation. If I had had the money, I would've been over there this weekend for this weekend's "80s Weekend" double feature, as well as a couple new movies tomorrow.

The one that used to be at the South end of Everett was converted to an Emergency room/clinic, and was the first drive-in I remember watching a movie at (which was Patton).

All the drive-ins around the area where I grew up have been torn down. The one in Culver City is now a bunch of condos, and the Olympic Drive-In (corner of Olympic and Bundy Dr.) is now the local Cadillac dealer.

Same about drive-inns most places and same about many campgrounds. The land is worth more now to build condos and subdivisions.

Back when we camped a lot with the kids we went to many drive in theaters. No TV at camp much back then. We may have been to that one in Michigan too. Have no idea where it is. I don't remember horses and cowgirls at any drive-ins.
Yes before the kids I did horse around with girls at the drive in.

I remember this location well, and the diner is still there, as of a few years ago. Don't get up that way much any longer, but spent a lot of time eating in that diner over 50 years ago, when I lived outside of Keene NH.... Winter of 1964 spent the weekend with my girlfriend at the motel for the winter carnival at college.

Speed limit in CT was 55 back then, and it still is on some of the highways. I know that this wasn't Interstate 84, since I84 had the designation of I86 back then. To me, this looks more like the Merritt Parkway than one of the interstates. It could also be the Berlin Turnpike, which like the Merritt, had a grass island down the middle in some sections.

Pictures are nice. But reading something about where they are, the time period, and other facts makes it much more interesting. I do reaize every photo does not come with information. But as members we can relay what we remember of those pictures familiar to us.

For instance Junk a little more information about you and the girl in the motel room.:oops:

I was trying to figure out what was in the front part of the parking lot on the right. Finally decided it was some kind of home-made miniature golf course.

Yes sir. My wife and kids had to stop at the motels and campgrounds with the mini golf. It was more important than a pool. We even had our own balls and clubs even though none of us has ever played regular golf.
Maybe junk and his girlfriend played a round of golf!:dancing:

I have no idea. I'm hearing wedding bells!

Why is the town nearly deserted in the middle of the day?
Why are two planters empty and the middle one has a crooked bush?
Why didn't they put money in the parking meter?
