    those lots

The lots I'm used to going to display a disturbing,to me,trend.Coupes and sedans are usually beat to crap. But the wagons there have a tendency to look fairly well off,in comparison.Like that Buick.

    LargeBarge,

Did you say you spotted a brown Chevy clamshell?? Would it be worth my traveling out there from Los Angeles to see it..? Did you happen to catch it in any of your photos? ;)

I believe its a 60 Pontiac Bonneville - the vent windows and fins on the back give it away..as I had a 60 Impala that was similar.

I dont think its worth it... I have to go back to the yard later this week to get my dash pad.. let me snag some pictures of it for you. If I remember correctly, there wasnt a lot left of it.

that Pontiac we been talking about

Some of the pictures of the 1960 Pontiacs I was looking at on Flickr, identified the cars as Strato Chiefs.A model I hadn't heard of before then.I have seen,in real life,a few 1959 Star Chiefs.More magnificent vehicles. But not quite that slim and trim in appearance.

I looked at that Pontiac again today.. it seems its a 1960 Hurst - the badging on it said PONTIAC SUPERIOR.
I googled it and found this picture.. and it matches.

Looked at the Clam Shell again today as well... forgot my camera though. Its actually green with wood siding. Overall, upon further inspection...there is not much left of it. The body is only 'decent' and its pretty much gutted except for the seats and a few moldy/oldy interior panels...unfortunately not much left of it.

If you tell me specifically what you're looking for though.. I may take a trip over to thier 'other' yard about an hour from here..and I could look there.
Not sure when I am going to make it down there...but I want to go just to see what they have since this yard was so impressive.

    superiority

Superior may have been a sub-model onto which the ambulance or hearse accessories were added.I've seen different model names on the Cadillac hearses and ambulances.Sedan DeVille's they're not!

Superior is the ambulance body manufacturer. The front clip and front doors (except the window frames), plus some of the rear bumper, quarter panel and taillamp parts are from Pontiac. The rest of the ambulance body would have been built by Superior on a lengthened frame.
