...so I also drive an original allroad; AWD/turbo V6/air bags-adjustable to 4 levels/5-seater urban assault wagon, and I love it.

But each day on my way to work, I pass a totally rusted out (read: beautifully patina) 1970 Buick Estate Wagon, that I can't stop thinking about. N I N E passenger, 3 bench seats, full size fold the seats down for sheets of plywood, 455 ci/7.5L V8 to move it down the road.:yup:

It's clear it hasn't moved in years. No for sale sign, it just sits in it's assigned spot in the driveway, not running, amongst all the other cars it's owner now drives.

When I'm not looking at two drive by pictures taken with my phone, I secretly stalk it on google earth to look at it. Soon, after I devise a restoration strategy, I will approach the house and see what kind of deal we can negotiate.

I joined to talk wagon and to see how the webmaster's new project is coming along: it's THE SAME WAGON

Welcome cabeaux! You do have it bad! Just to make you want your 1970 Estate Wagon even more, watch this movie clip...watch, but make sure to mute it because it is blah-blah crap.

Welcome to the nuthouse. You have it BAD! Mind you, if you are going to obsess about a wagon it is hard to beat the one year only 1970 Buick Estate Wagon. That is probably the nicest Buick wagon out of all of them. I love the lines of that generation of big G.M. wagon, and the Buick has always been my favorite of the G.M. brands. That the 70 is the only year of that generation to have a wagon at all makes it something pretty special in my mind. Good luck with the hunt.

It's totally rusted out? Can you post the cell pics?
Just remember...patina is skin deep, rust goes straight through to the bone.:D
I've seen a lot of clean wagons that came out of the Northleft?, the car is probably from Ohio.:)

Don't let your emotions triumph over your common sense.

Unless your independently wealthy or own a body shop your best restoration strategy would be to run away from that car and find a clean base for a project or an original clean car or recent resto on a clean body. You could buy one for less then a restoration would cost, If it needs a lot of work figure on spending 20-25K at the minimum.
GM did make more than one of them, if you're seriously looking post a car wanted in the classified section, the guys here can sniff out wagons like bloodhounds.:D

    Great story, Cabeaux....

You've got it, alright. What's the harm in stopping by on a Saturday morning and admiring the wagon, maybe asking if they would entertain an offer on it. All they can say is yes, or no. And if no, there are others out there....

Post up the location. I'd like to see it on Google Earth too.....

    And welcome to the SWF!

cabeaux, I just bought one of those a few weeks ago. I didn't even know I wanted one until I saw it. If it's solid, you gotta go knock on the door. If it's rusted out, just keep looking. There's a glowy photo of mine around sunset here... http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/gallery/showimage.php?i=12325&c=newimages ...it doesn't look anywhere that nice in real life. But it's mine and it's paid for. And it's solid and floats down the road. For now, I'm enjoying it's patina, but if business is good this winter, I might get her a fresh coat of paint and some shiny new wood decals.

    Good luck!

Let me first say it's nice to see my 'wagon thing' needs no further explanation, I think my friends tire when I wax about wagons. Naturally all the koo-koo's who subscribe to this site obviously 'get it' and lemme tell you I'm all IN.

    ok ok ok ok..... you can do a virtual stalk, the car is located here;
18242 40th Ave NE, Lake Forest Park, WA 98155 .... I doubt the owner of this wagon is a member of this site, BUT if you are....can I buy your car?

I think that movie, "The Way, Way Back" is a new release, currently in theaters, so you won't find it just yet on Netflix.
