You don't see these to often as complete and unmolested, especially with a canopy. IMO it's a fair asking price just because.....BUT, ya still need to look under it. http://www.usedvictoria.com/classified-ad/1966-Ford-Ranchero_19889411
I like these, but I think Ford should have put the Fairlane front clip on them in 66 instead of waiting till 67.
oh those innovations Innovations! Like vacuum cleaners!! This is like the third or fourth car in the last few weeks posted for sale, here on the Forums, where there has been an apparent lack of vacuum cleaners!!! I'm wondering about that unmolested claim. The drivers door is from a Falcon of a slightly different shade of green. And, other than looking like it needs to be vacuumed before pictures are taken to post on the web, it looks "not too bad". Checking the underneath would be wise. One has to wonder what wasn't done, under there, if they couldn't even vacuum it out... The engine says 289 2V. That means it's got either 160 or 185 bhp. Not bad for a puny little pick-up truck car.
IMO that is only a $1500 car max. I could have bought one here in that shape for less last fall. These Rancheros are not worth much as I used to have one as shown below. I had mine for 10 years and had abut 8K in it and I know you never get your money back but I struggled after fees to get $3500 for it. That was about 5 years ago. It had a built Mexican 302, C4, and a 4.11 posi 8in. It was a fun one and its still going as I saw it on ebay about 2 years ago and couldn't get a bid up to $3500 even.
Yup, to all the comments. The Falcon front clip on the Ranchero in '66 was a marketing mistake by Ford. The Fairlane front clip would have cost Ford maybe 50 bucks over the Falcon clip (more complex grill, dual headlamps vs. single, etc....) Chevy was already selling the El Camino based on the intermediate Chevelle platform. Although the same size as the Fairlane for '66, the Falcon was rightly perceived as a compact car. I remember seeing 'Fairlane' Ranchero conversions being done - even before the '67's came out......
Ah yes, the orphan year Ranchero. Is it a Falcon? is it a Fairlane? As Krash said: I definitely like the 67 front clip better. Still, wouldn't be a bad little rig to run around in. Now if it looked like the one Blueoval76 had, then it would really be a fun rig to run around in. I'll stick with our 63 Ranchero. It knows it's a Falcon, and it's proud of that fact.
