    i've heard many times how at high speeds the rear end lifts up and flies. yesterdays 500 mile roadtrip proved this wrong .never lifted and drove nice and straight

    Yes, but you have to get it outta second gear ! BEEP BEEP !:rofl2:

    My old wagon lifts in the front over 80 MPH or so.

    no 1/4 mile just went to a show in st pete and back . that was going east across alligator alley during the sunset . this is what i saw in my side mirror

    Beautiful car, beautiful pictures! I don't have the nerve to see what Mythbusters did with their test car, was it gruesome? My Uncle Norman had a loaded '59 Chevy wagon before he got his '60 Galaxie 4dr sedan, never got a ride in either one though. Still shuddering over the crash film of the '59 Belair sedan.

    The Mythbusters took a 59 Chev to a wind tunnel, and busted that myth into a million pieces without damage to a lovely Impala 4 door hard top. The car produced DOWN force at the rear, quite the opposite of lift, which did surprise them no end.

    Thanks Mike, that put that ugly picture out of my head! I'll have to look for that clip. Too bad their 1967 Plymouth Fury 4dr hardtop and the 1964 Imperial Green Hornet hack job didn't fare better. Oh well.

    These cars ran fine in NASCAR at speeds much higher than 100 mph.

    i agree junior johnson ran one but i get a lot of old timers who swear to me the car wold the lift off the gro nd above 75-80 mph
