Taking the boys to a park I found this 70 at the side of the road, no price just a phone number. odomiter said 059k miles and I kinda belive that. Orogonal hup caps were in the back, the interiour was amazing mint front to back also. no inside rear pics, camera glare on the windows gave junk pics.... only real damage was the dented rear door.... amazing interiour condition, not a crack or tear anywhere in the entire car,only visable wear is on drivers side arm rest, newer seat belts though... But, the bad...... IMO this old girl lived outside all her life, the way back window bottoms a cancer complete with lots of holes. The rust under the rear windows is bad, from 10 feet you can't tell, but up close..... All and all, a very honest looking car, very origonal...... didn't look under.... wouldn't be able to get back up
This looks like a Bel-Air wagon, maybe a Biscayne. The interior is amazingly nice from what I can tell from the pics. The 69-70 Chevrolets had interiors that were really well assembled and held up well. I had a '69 Caprice 4dr hardtop and while my seats had dry-rotted, the interior was as tight as the day it rolled off of the line. The car didnt have not one squeak or rattle. NONE! I sold that car (and it was high optioned as well) for a lousy $2100 and have regretted it ever since.
Fat Tedy next time you go look at it hook the camera on one of the dogs and throw a bone under the wagon. I hate it when there's no price. I'd rather put the asking price and not have so many callers who can't afford it.
I don't understand why folks don't put as much info as possible on stuff for sale, cars or otherwise. That way hopefully, you only get calls from the ones who are really interested.
I agree, Fannie. If there's not a price I don't bother to call because I figure there's going to be a lot of BS from the seller about the price, the car, condition, etc. Do they think they're going to start a bidding war by not advertising the price?
Yup, I hate the no price thing also. I have allways hated that when looking to buy and come to think of it have never gone after a car with no price or best offer...
No price "can" mean a high price, but not necessarily. It's always worth a phone call in my opinion. I've brought home a lot of cars that I didn't think would work out. What I have stopped doing though is going to see cars when the guy says "Just make me an offer"!! ...too many miles and too much time just to find out they want a ridiculous price. I have actually refused to go see a few because of that. But most will produce some kind of price if you stand your ground and they realize that you are just about ready to end the phone conversation. Except for the rust issues, that is a pretty nice '70. Will take some talented body work to fix it, but may be worth it to the right person. Bill
Given the low mileage and pretty good interior, I'd say that's a fair price. One of these in good running condition but needing full restoration, and I'd say this particular car is better than that as the interior is already pretty good, has a value in the Old Cars Price Guide of about $1500. In "car-show" condition, the value is about $3500. So this is somewhere in between, and his asking price is in between. Who knows what he might actually take for it. Someone offer him $2000 and see what he says!
