with the 2 Rivieras I have (built up myself from about the same condition as the eBay 'derby' wagon) I'm quite sure you can double that estimation. Learned it the hard way... next car (hopefully a triple black '76 Buick Electra 2dr HT) I will try to find one in the best condition my wallet allows me and save money in the end. On the other hand: working on a car is half the fun of this hobby.
I've seen a power window kit on TV that uses the origonal cranks for the switch. Now don't ask who makes it 'cause I don't remember.
Being the Masochist that I am, I called the dude about the car. I figured that if it was still available I might try to make an offer and run the risk of incurring the wrath of my better half. Thankfully for me, and continued Domestic Harmony, the car has been sold and went to a good home CaptCarl
Thanks for the update Carl!!. im glad she went to a good home. As far as some earlier comments about the wagons being used hard. mine was used, but wasnt abused. just having to do alot of cleanup and replacement. Minivans were used and abused too, its almost impossible to find a nice used minivan. My fear is that the minivans wont gain the same cult following that the wagons have. Maybe they will as they get harder to find, and the kids who grew up in them start to miss them. I still want a 92 Grand carvan like we had when i was younger.
I know. You also have to watch some of those derby guys. SOME are quick to help, but there are others that hate guys that like wagons and are not very helpful. I am needing a rear window switch for my wagon. I had several PM me and say that they had one if I wanted it... some even said for free - but when it got right down to it, they either could not find it, did not have time to get it, or simply would not reply. I am currently at "battle" on a derby forum with one derby guy. Before I started working on my wagons engine I had offered it for trade. I also had a want ad on there. Some jerk I had a problem with before said he had a nice "driver" 73' wagon coming in two weeks and asked when I was coming. I replied and asked him for details. He never replied. He later posted a 72' Impala wagon as a derby car and I seen a car in the background he had told me before that he sold along time ago. Well, then on that same thread he said I should trade him my wagon. I later replied and said that I had actually started on the cars engine, but I would have traded it for a 73' Caprice Estate wagon, but I was having the engine fixed in mine for $400. He then blew a gasket and more-less called me a liar and that I could not get a engine done for $400 and said I was BS and I was just a "tire-kicker" wasting time, etc. I did not take lightly to that and of course I bucked back. Now this guy has had alot of problems with other guys on there in the past, but he has some "buddies" as well and I am sure they will take his side. Obviously he is only in it for the "derbiers" and does not like to send photos or details about wagons to anyone. He has made that clear. TBH, I have about had it over there. Like a bunch of kids alot of the time. Oh well, no need in fretting over it. Well, its good to hear this wagon got a good home.
Its not a Buick, but an unusual clamshell wagon... and ironic, because we were just talking about wagons with these options.... A very high optioned 1972 Caprice Estate wagon - power windows, power locks, power seat and even also has tilt and cruise control. Obviously the woodgrain needs to be replaced. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...akeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:us I would love to find a 72' Caprice wagon with the ultra rare brocade cloth interior option. I have never personally seen one, but its listed in the 1972 Chevy wagon brochure. It says that brocade cloth interior was optional and it was only optional on the 1972 models.
OH, I also notice this wagon has the 402 big block engine! He thinks its a 400, because for some reason GM put 400 emblems on the 402 cars. I alerted him. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Very...oryZ6173QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Yep that might actually be a wagon to bid on. Ah one thing the Chevy is shorter than the Pontiac/Olds/Buick one but where?? Cheers Dyna
