Not mine, don't know the owner, posting for general interest.

A nice-looking Country Squire for sale in Portland, OR. Seller is selling it as a "no reserve" auction, apparently set the opening bid at $12,000 temporarily until he could finish writing the description.

Didn't see any mention of a re-paint in the description, but does that look like overspray on the emission control information sticker? Even so, a pristine looking car!

If it only had DFRS...I wonder how hard it would be to find a nice pair of DFRS for that in tan vinyl, I would think the seats would fit from '73-'78 for sure, maybe back to '71 or further?

I'm getting closer to the point where my wife wouldn't miss $3000 or so if it went missing to go towards a wagon purchase. $12K certainly is out of the question for me, but even without reserve I still see this wagon fetching at least $6500 or $7500 if not more. It's THAT NICE. I would even leave the woodgrain on it just because it's still so nice. This would get a top of the line car cover in the driveway if I didn't plan to drive it and wash it and wax it for longer than a two week period. It's THAT NICE. I would put it in the garage but I guarantee it would be too long to fit. My "midsize" Torino is 18 feet 4 inches and it's 2 inches too long. It'd have to take the bumper guards off both front and back, or take off the back bumper completely, in order to close the garage door. And it's only a sedan!!!

    DFRS = ????

I have been looking at this car on ebay and waiting to see if the guy really would lower the opening bid to $100.:D
I love the car and was looking at all the pix and.....then.....I got to the pic that showed roll up windows instead of power windows. I still find it hard to believe that it has roll ups. Then again...there were still a lot of people in the late 70's that didn't trust power windows.

Yeah Mike - same here. Actually kind of upset me a bit that somebody would take the trouble to order up a very nice wagon and then skimp out with the crank windows. Did you notice that it has the tow package with the 4-wheel discs?

And 'DFRS' = "Dual-facing rear seats"

I still know folks that refuse to buy a car with power windows; some old, some young. I often consider converting my rear window to electric, but otherwise it is not a factor when I look at a vehicle.

Thanks for clearing up the DFRS for me, KK!:yup:
Yup....this is a nice car....a beauty that I would have liked to own until I saw the roll ups. My dad was a mechanic and even he didn't like automatic trannies or power windows for a long time. He bought a new car in 1959 and he didn't want power windows but I talked him into them.:D People ordered cars with strange options, or the lack of them, back in the day. This wagon is one that I have always liked and this particular one turns me on....BUT....believe it or not, with all that is going for the car, I would pass on it just for the lack of power windows.:(

I don't trust old GM power windows. I love old Chrysler power windows. I have no experience with old Ford power windows, don't know how they age. I would choose this one without power windows over one with DFRS and with power windows. That's just an ease of maintenance thing. The tailgate window is still power, I can reach both front doors, I can reach the left rear door. I can reach the right rear door if I'm stopped in traffic for more than 6-8 seconds. Irregardless of my age I CAN STILL BEND THAT WAY and do regularly in the Torino. Of course this all reminds me that my driver door window, a manual one no less, does not roll down, and I need to fix it. I would be more irritated at it were it power.

This wagon seems to be a beauty! Wish there were more interior photos.

I cannot believe how these have rocketed up in value over the past 10 years. I could have bought one of these (except it was a '76 model) in MINT, MINT, MINT condition back in 2001 for $995. (YES, $995.00) at a local Ford dealership. It was a nice optioned one as well. I could kick myself now for not getting it, but that the time, I really wasnt into these and wanted a clamshell wagon.

Now I finally have one of those and now the "interest" in those seems to have declined?

Makes me wish now that I had my great aunts old brown on brown 1978 Ford Country Squire that she bought new. She had it up until 2000, again, I wasnt interested in them at the time. She gave it to her son, who sold it to a guy for $300 who wanted it just for the engine (it had the optional 460) and the car was still in excellent condition inside and out. :banghead3:

Sold for $8988.00. Things got really hot at the end!:yup:
Think what it would have sold for if the old guy wouldn't have screwed himself out of a couple of days of bidding, it would have had power windows and the jump seats!
I thought the car would push $8000.00. But, I wasn't sure because of the above things.

When I first posted this, the description hadn't been fully completed yet and I thought it was Dick and Theresa who were selling the car. Turns out, it was "Dave" who bought the trailer and the car, as I realized from the updated descripton. From the description, it seems "Dave" turned around and sold the trailer to a friend and listed the car on eBay within a week or two. (He says he's been "driving the car around Portland for the last week".)

I just hope Dave gave Dick and Theresa a good price for the car and trailer, and this isn't another example of a sharp guy taking advantage of some old folks who don't know about eBay! :(

I have a hunch it is the latter. And it is sad that he used THEIR pic in the ad to make you believe it was them selling the car. If you didn't read it all you would have thought that it was them as the sellers. I'll bet they didn't get 9K for both the trailer and car.
