Just mailed off the registration for my first show with the Cruiser! Down fall is that since its a smaller show I'm getting lumped in with the "original 1968-2005" class. I wish they would have broken it up some. No tires yet, hopefully soon though!! I would love to find me a set of those 70's GM bullet mirrors but everyone on ebay wants gold and I've had no time to hit the junk yards. Oh side note story, I was driving to class the other day and I had one of those new stupid Prius "C"s come up on me and was zipping in and out of traffic. When he passed me he gave me the "death stare". What's up with those people?! I would tear through your car like a tin can. I'll take my AMERICAN built boat over that Japanese roller skate any day.
He's just mad that he can't haul nearly as much stuff and has no style compared to your Oldsmobile! I agree with you wholeheartedly- Large American cars are all I drive. Between the ride that you can't buy now at any price, the ease of maintenance and the style I enjoy, I would never consider a roller skate of any kind for my car.
I love that car, 77!! Have fun tomorrow! Unfortunately, I polished mine for a show tomorrow, too, but, it's going to rain with high winds and a high temp of 41! Now, I'm not going.
I was just taking a closer look at the dent in the passenger front door. I bet you could get most, if not all, of that out using a wide based toilet plunger. Wet the area with water and a bit of dish detergent, get the panel vibrating, and yank hard. After the main part is out, work on the smaller parts the same way. By the time you're done, it won't be very noticeable at all, and it won't hurt the paint.
It went really well! I didn't win any trophies. Had tons of interest and lots of questions about it. Then a couple morons with some negative comments. Like "why is that in the show?" Also the announcer as I drove by said "and here comes an old SUV" I spent about 8 hours cleaning it. It was such a chore! Next time I wanna wax it someone slap me. What can't this car do?? So far I've hauled a couch, helped a friend move and now this... Yup, thats a full size mattress. Sadly this will be its last trip on the roadways until I can address the stalling problem that has developed. Plus it wants to flood when I want to start it up. So once school is out for the semester I'll get my Dad to help my rebuild the carb. So the saga continues..
I have no idea. Its a pretty good possibility though, also it could just be filled up and gummed up with junk. Upon initial starting (from cold) I would be able to slowly depress the gas and she would fire right up. Now I have to pump it quite a few times for it to fire. Half the time it floods. Also when doing a slow acceleration it feels like it wants to die and you have to put the hammer down. So driving around town is kinda scary. But I will keep the progress updates coming! They may be slow, since I will be having my Zephyr out of storage (aka my parents house) so I'll be able to work and get that one finished up.
