You know that Cruise Controls go back to the Model T, huh? So does on the fly timing. They both had a wand off the steering column on coax cables. One to the distributor, one to the carb. Henry knew how to make simple systems.
Rear Seat Done! Mountain out of a molehill. I really am ticked with myself for dragging that job out so long. It's simple, step-by-step, lego work. No reason for it. Anyway, it looks perfectly at home. From the rear:
I'm in the engine now! Gonna get into the Wow! I did the swap, and did the drop But I'm in the engine now! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima TBird those washers were a pain, but I figured out why they exist al all. The brackets are bolted on the folding back panels and the carpet chunks are glued on top. So when the factory guys install the rear seat, they pick up the slack with the washers. I tweaked them and got away with two washers. Still a pain. Nice day tomorrow, so the engine lines and cables and brackets and hood lamp switch go in. YES! Might get her started, even.
Made Good Headway I had left a lot of loose ends, on purpose, to remind me of 'Next Steps'. 1) Change to Cork Gasket - Rubber gaskets all leak. Everything was already clean and ready to change, glue and install the new one. With Gasket glue! 2) Check for various vacuum line location. 3) Check each water system hose and clean. One was bad, so he came by and we got the last bottom Fairmont 3.3L rad hose, in town. 4) Refill the rad, and test again. Just so you know, all the ignition stuff is opppsite th carb: EGR, Carb and Air filter are just positioned. Ran out of daylight (finished up at 10:20 PM.
Weathermen! I think an old medicine-man or fisherman knows more! It's raining already! 3 or 4 in the afternnon, my a$$! Rain and thunder all day, on and off. Son of a gun!
Cheer up there is tomorrow and it will give you time to check thins over before firing that torque monster up.
Andy came over yesterday with his Mabel (ND Fairmont Wagon). He let me drive it, with my wife sitting in the front seat. Then he asked how we liked it up there in the front, like the old days. She said she preferred him driving. Women! No accounting for them. Now you know why we need two cars. Marital peace. She's a good driver, but she always tells me what she'd do. Anyway, I like the Six just fine! Lots of torque where it counts.
I like the 6 too a lot of people dismiss the 6 as a weak engine and like the V8 over it. But people don't realize that it's not horsepower that moves a car or truck it's the torque and that's were the the big 3 make their $$$$ a bit misleading
Of course you probably noticed I drove a little differently with her in the car than I do with just you. And the new car doesn't have quite the poop the old one had, so even if you do step on it, it's a bit more..."dignified". Haven't worked any of my "magic" on it yet.
