No idea how you move a car that large and heavy like that. Wow is all I can say. Also he should be very attentive to how he feels in the coming days. Things take a bit to really show their true extent. Sarah has yet to be back to anywhere near her previous state. Hope all is well though.

First - I am so glad he is going to be ok and didnt get hurt any worse.

Second - As a truck driver (Class A semi's) my worst fear is getting in a wreck. Not for me, I'm in a tank that weighs up to 80K lbs. I worry that I will kill somebody else. The truck driver should have taken extra care NOT to have a wreck, its part of his job to watch out for other smaller vehicles, period.

Third - Look at the lower side of the car, the perimeter frame did its job. They moved it outboard to help in side impacts.

He will be in our prayers.

I feel much safer in my B body now.
Real world crash testing is a bear.

Amazing that the airbag didn't deploy, must not have hit very hard when it was doing the end for end flip.
Been working on cleaning up the underbody on mine and that boxed frame is some major duty steel, even has a step in it that makes it even stronger.
I've never had anything newer that I worked on, must admit that the Custom Cruiser is a much better car structurally than my Vista Cruiser was, not quite as cool as the Vista though, no 8 track player.:)

it appears from the pictures that he wasn't wearing his seatbelt. If my supposition is correct, it is probably a good thing, because if he had, there is a good chance that instead of his body being able to move away from the impact of the crash, he might have just been pinned to the seat and crushed. Good to see that he is up and moving around. Hope that his bruises recover quickly and the pain goes away. Cars can be replaced, human bodies can't be fixed easily or replaced.

[IMG][IMG]Subject: Re: Pat's wagon just saved his life! [IMG]Mon 19 Dec 2011 - 21:19 [IMG] [IMG] I'm actually not doing all that great, the doc say that I must keep moving and not to sit for long periods or I'll stiffen up my back muscles. As most of you know me and know I'm not a small person you can imagine how my left shoulder is bruised, discoloured and sore form where the seatbelt kept me suspended in my seat and my back took a hell of of jolt when the rear of the car impacted the ground before the whole wagon flipped backwards onto it roof

the camera's battery died on my before I could take any pictures there isn't a single straight panel left, the dash is 10" narrower and barely room for fingers between the driver's door panel and the steering wheel that explains the pain in my left thigh the driver's side is completely caved in from the bent front left wheel to the bent rear wheel the car is also bent dowards behind the vista glass area the roof is caved in some and the mud and water from the ditch ruined any chance of there being a savagable interior part.

the only thing undamaged on the car is the crucifix that is still standing proud on the dash

Dont fool yourself into feeling safe with the airbags in the early bubble tops, the airbags in these old wagons must not work at all. This is my 93 after smoking and being smoked by a large buck at almost 75mph. It shoved the core support so far back that it broke the oil cooler hard line off at the base of the radiator. Destroyed the fan, alternator bracket, radiator and aircon condensor. The engine locked up before I could even get the car stopped and shut off, as it pumped all 5.5qts on the road in less then 10 seconds. Also hit so hard that it cracked the throttle body and broke the injectors lose when the air cleaner was destroyed by the hood. It was also hard enough of a hit for me to bend the steering wheel and get a bruise from the seatbelt.
