Nice, I remember the video on the car coming down that hill in front of your house when you brought it home. I love the exhaust sound.
Unfortunately that is the first question my wife asked me. Is it supposed to be that loud?.....I dont like that its that loud.... Oops maybe i should not have put that cam in there??? I cant recall if it was that throaty before the rebuild. It is the same exhaust system.
First thing I thought was that there was a cam in it. You can hear it. That does make them louder, too. Mine is WAY louder after the new engine with the bigger cam. Nice work, doc!
Yes, like silverfox said a bigger cam will make it louder. It's not usually a huge amount but it's noticeable. Drive it for a bit and get used to it before you decide to do anything about it. Don't forget how much more noise an old car makes compared to a new one regardless of the performance mods. I'm sure some of it is just getting used to it again.
The 67 390 also has larger flow 64 heads on it too. I am thinking it will run very well. I am hoping she gets used to it. Has anyone ever taken off the roof rack from a ford? I cant find the pics of when I took it off. There are small white hard plastic spacers and I cannot recall where they go on the roof rack. They either go under the 5 roof bars, or under the 4 feet. I am assuming the go between the rubber gasket and the roof rack to keep the bars from dimpling when the screws are tightened.
A cammed 67, 390? It will run best with the accelerator on the floor! Not a Ford guy, doc...can't help you with the spacers. Bet GPD could, though.
I took the wagon out and gave it a good cleaning. I think it looks a lot better. We put about 30 miles on it today. It was running great then it started to sputter and I eventually limped into the local Sunoco. Best we can tell is that it may have had vapor lock. We adjusted the timing and topped of the fuel and drove it out to the shop that is putting in the headliner. Below is a video of the wagon looking much cleaner and a small close up of the engine running. Things I still have to do: Roof rack installation Chrome Buttons on the faux trim fasteners rear tailgate woodrain and trim Wrap metal fuel line near the motor... thanks for the update, your daughter's (?) reaction is priceless. It is too bad that as you are nearing the finish line that the bad weather is coming our way. I need to bring my Ranch Wagon down so that we can get them together for a photo shoot. Any have a '67 Country Sedan to complete the family picture?
Its photoshop time I think? I bet someone who knows something can take photos from members of all 3 67 Ford big wagons and merge them?
