Yeah...I love the looks of these cars. I came very close to buying one just like it from AZ. Had the same interior but it was a cinnamon color exterior. I like your color much better. The car looks new, 77V. Once the passenger side is straightened out this car will be just like a new car. Still hard to believe your gramps was going to throw it away. You should show it to him now! He will probably want it back.
It looks great. I think you can get fresh duct tape in tan now. Did you notice the no parking sign? OK no more picking nits. That really is a great looking wagon. You'd never expect to see the P/W, D/L or a/c in a car with a plain exterior. Nice.
Goes to show that hard work pays off. The shine you got on that car is amazing. Really glad to see these old dogs getting the treatment they deserve, and it's good for the cars too.
Anyone have any advice for 77vista on how to get that slight bow out of the hood's right side? Big panel dent out of passenger door? Seems I saw a thread somewhere that said something about heating the panel from the back(inside door) then wiping a cold wet towel over outside might make the dent "pop" out??
Thanks for the compliment guys!!! Once funds are available I'm going to have the driver seat recovered. But thats on the bottom of the list. It needs tires BAD but don't have the 400+ to get a new set...or even a used set. As far as options go, I have no clue on why it was ordered with the options it has. But for the radio, all I know is "we didn't want a radio so we didn't get one". At least that what my Grandpa told me that the original owners said. The hood is bowed right in center, most likely from the hinges getting stiff. It was a pain to close before the hinges were lubed. I would love to get the dent out of the door. I'm just afraid to mess up the paint! So any tips would be appreciated!
I remember seeing bunches of 70's GM cars back in the day, particularly Chevy's, with hoods that got bent like yours. The hinges were always really stiff on those.
Not a whole lot has been going on. Been driving it more than I probably should, I just really like how it drives. But its parked for the time being, the fuel pump decided to start leaking the other day. Been super busy so it'll be at least a week or more before I can get to it. Here it is at school, oh and I made the front vanity plate for it.
Lookin' good 77. I see you parked it in a spot where there were no cars on either side of it. Good thinking.
Its now back on the road! The fuel pump replacement was super easy, figured I would have had to fight it some. Took all of 45 mins from removal to replacement. Oh and it was still the factory AC Delco fuel pump!! Next up is to do some work to the power windows.
Your bringing that big ol' gal back up, shes looking great! I'm still working on my '73 Century wagon. Don't know if I will paint it myself or have someone do it for me.
Yeap you've got wagon fever alright...I didn't know it was possible to drive a car to much. Can you post a better picture of your plate? Great thread you have going here.
I've put a few hundred miles on it in the past few months. Did I mention I really love the way it drives? Its night and day between my Focus. Oh and as requested. All I did for this is some painters tape, and some Duplicolour. I used one of the Arizona "flat plates", as in the new non-embossed kind. Most states use that style now.
