Well...I won't be clicking on THAT link ever again. It froze my puter and there was nothing I could do but to shut it down with everything still on screen. Could have been a temporary glitch or just my puter but...I'm not trying it again.

I have an older machine too, works pretty good.
Sometimes it helps to max out the ram.
How much ram do you have?

That's a pretty good machine. Probably a software issue.
But a couple gig of ram wouldn't hurt.

I like the stance, but am unclear of why the need for what looks like an expensive custom header. Does anyone have a description of the modifications?

fox, my PC has a "tera" something I am serious (but do not have a clue what it means)

Well, adding RAM is a good suggestion but the machine IS 7 years old and I don't want to go the nickel and dime route only to have it give up one day soon. My printer took a dump (was junk from day one), monitor is a 19" square format, keyboard is grungy, mouse is not working properly (never did like the mouse) and the puter acts up a little now and then. Not to mention that it has slowed down considerably. I know RAM would help and I know how much I have to spend for a new unit and peripherals, but, I think I need to go that route at this point.

For about $75, you can upgrade your ram, get a new keyboard and mouse. If you are interested in getting a new system, wait until there is a great sale. Sites like http://www.fatwallet.com/ are great for finding deals on just about anything.

Thanks, Stef. That's kind of what I am doing now...looking at sale items at different sites. Never heard of fat wallet so I will look there, too. Most of my time has been spent trying to learn the tech stuff so I will know what to look for. Wiz has been a MAJOR help to me in that area. And, thankfully, very patient.

    Compute This!

----------I drive a Dodge RAM but doesn't seem to make my puter work better. I'm still tryin to figure how all those X's and O's make little pictures of station wagons and words. If computers were so important Henry Ford would have had them in his office. :rofl2: I also believe my HARD DRIVE went soft!
