I was rear ended by a drunk driver a few years back. I fought for almost 5 months with the drivers insurance company because the owner claimed the car was stolen. Meanwhile the guy driving was a family friend and they never pressed charges. Once they finally agreed to fix it, i got a call from an adjuster saying it was a total loss. Come to find out that adjuster was looking at my truck but was there for another. My adjuster came back with a $4000 estimate. See pictures below

After losing my job i had to give up the whole truck. I was able to sell all my aftermarket parts except for the lowering kit. Thanks for the compliment. I hope to get another soon.

if they total it my grandmother is willing to help me out on a down payment but on the condition that i buy a little fuel miser. ( i had originally planned to replace my truck with either a jeep ( i miss my 93 wrangler) or some car that can pull a trailer...like a 95-96 fleetwood) i dont want another wagon because i like missing my Buick all winter. i get so excited as the weather gets nice in the early spring! so i dont know...i need to wait till i get to the river before i cross it. but i never hurts to look. maybe i can swing an off lease grand marquis!

I wouldn't accept that offer. I don't know what a bed used bed costs in your area but the labor to R+R it and prep +and paint it will be more than $600. Your bed may be rusty but the Insurance company is still liable to pay to repair your truck to pre accident condition. If they can find a bed the right color fine but if not they need to pay to paint.

Hemi Is right. You don't have to accept the first offer. These are insurance guys...they will try to get out as cheap as they can.

Dealing with the insurance company is never easy but you NEVER take their first offer. Your best bet is to have some good written documentation on repair costs. If possible have a body shop write estimates for repairing using used parts, either used bedside or a used bed. Also get an estimate using new parts. Submit them and wait for their answer. You want to try and do all corresponding by e-mail so you have a record and so you can take your time and make sure you say exactly what you want to say. Good luck.
