Very cool pics. Thanks for posting the link. I knew right away it had to be in the rain forests of the Pacific Northwest.

WOW!! I don't know how I missed this thread! This guy had to have spent hours and hours and hours shooting these pix. Not to mention that it couldn't have been easy getting around in there in some of those spots. The pix are art and so is this whole junk yard that has now melded with nature. What an unusual and beautiful sight. You can almost watch nature slowly claiming the cars. Like it is trying to force them to become part of the living world. I really enjoyed looking at these photos. I knew it had to be in the PNW...even thought of Tedy's area. You know....there are TONS of good parts still left in there! TONS! Some of them rare. If you need an unusual tail light, or some badging, etc...I would look closely here.

We got up early because my wife had to work this morning and I have been thinking about that incredible junk yard. So I sat down and wrote this:

    For the Incredible Junk Yard.

Unto the mighty Earth we commend the steel of our dearly de-parted, and we commit this chassis and body to the ground from which the metals came; earth to mill, axles and dashes, left to rust; in sure and certain hope of the Restoration unto continued road life, through our hands and tools; to ride once again in glorious majesty and drive the roads of the world, the earth should see no cars that are dead; but, alas, the corrodable bodies of those who now sleep in the yard shall be changed, and made like unto a thing of the earth once more; according to the mighty laws of nature whereby they live in our memories and not our hands. Amen.

What baffles me is that this yard must have been on high and dry ground at one time, and what event caused all this watery grave for all these cars. I wonder who owns these cars, and why they haven't attempted to salvage them. Knowing the way that the states take pollution matters to a absurd ends, it also surprises me that no environmental group hasn't caused the "clean up" of these once magnificent vehicles.

How do you know it's in Oregon, CE? Not doubting it I just couldn't find that info myself. Do you know WHERE in Oregon?
One thing that amazes me about the cars in the PNW is that they don't rust??? I mean....look at those cars....moss growing on them, sitting there for years and years, and, guess what...many of those body parts are STILL usable! Amazing. If one were able to strip off every single good part in that yard you would have a fortune.
I'm wondering how this guy got in there to shoot the pix? Is this place abandoned? Sure looks that way. It would be hard to believe that it is a functioning junk yard at this point. Most of this stuff is from my era....I would love to walk through there with a camera like this guy did. I can't help but love this place. Sure would be a trip if these cars could all tell you their individual stories.
I've been wanting to take a trip to that area of the country because I've never been to the PNW. It would be a long and expensive trip but I think I would enjoy the scenery and, for sure, all the old cars in good shape like they are in southern California. I just am not good at planning things like a trip anymore. But...it would be nice to drop in on some of our members that live out there, too. Time's running out so, if I don't do it this summer I probably never will. And, now, summer is running out. I should map out the members that are on the way out there and just take off some day, I suppose. I've been just about everywhere else...just never up into that area of the country. If I were to do it I think it would take a month or more. But then....what's time to a pig as they say around here.:D
