Yeah, I was thinking that was a possibility too. Looks like the newest one is a '64.
Heck of a salesman to sell so many special vehicles....

Actually it's breakfast creek or just outside the entrance to it. Where the pumps are is now park and the front fence is right in the middle of the ramp that comes up from the new tunnel UNDER breakfast creek. Things have changed dramaticaly on that part of Brisbanes roads in the last 10 years.
The Standard Vangurad vans were all built by Abbots in the UK, and boy would I love one the "little frogs" today!
The Chev is a Fisher body too, very rare in Australia where all GM's had Holden built bodies.

The buildings in the background are the wool stores at Tenneriffe. Today it's a very upmarket neighborhood .

note: The trams were removed because it was felt they took up too much road space for cars.. notice the traffic in those days? it was stil like this 20 years ago but has gotten a lot worse since 2000 .

Since we're speculating, I looked at the school's website. Its a year round boarding school for K-12th grade. Since the kids live there all year and the parents are only visitors, it appears that they try to simulate a normal home life as much as possible with the "dorms" resembling residential houses with a married couple in charge of each residence (a mother & father figure). My guess is that one of these wagons was likely assigned to each "home" for transporting the kids (10-14 kids per home) from each house to and from class and activities. Maintaining a residential family like atmosphere could have played a part in vehicle choice, but then, we don't know what these things cost new either. They could very well have been cheaper than a fleet of school buses that would carry the same number of passengers. Like you, I'm just speculating.
I do see 62 Chevys, and 63 & 64 Pontiacs, but in one picture, at the end of the row, it looks like theres also a 67 Pontiac in the fleet.
