Trying to identify the vehicle by the grill. Can't quite put my finger on it. Checked AC cars - couldn't find anything. Front end seems to have a squashed Fiat 124 Spyder look to it. Somebody did a shooting brake body on an old Lotus Elan 2+2, and it looks similar from the back, but that's not it. Still looking....

    Got it -
The Gilbert Invader Shooting Brake - the best Welsh-built car there ever was (and the only one...) 1969 - 1973

These cars must have been so fantastic, the people of Wales must have kept them a big secret......

Damn you're really good Krash! Next time I'll let you search in Italy :D

    1) Yes it's a Gilbern Invader. It's a very good car, with a strong chassis. It was an alternative to the Scimitar (same engine, same concept).

    2) You found some pictures of me, my Volvo estate and my trailer, and with a poor Eventer . I bought it for spare 2 or 3 years ago but even if hardly crashed (it happens only 8 days after conversion!), it was to good to be dismantled. I sold it to a German enthusiast and it's now in process of a full rebuild.

Wow...didn't realize that maroon Jag was your car.....

I'll put up a new one by evening. Need to do some work work, and then research a 'secret wagon'.......

That Gilbert (or is it 'Gilbern'...?) Invader must sure be rare. Didn't see one in any of my numerous Google searches. Only found it after I looked up British car marques in Wiki.......

It looks like a Plymouth Valiant from the early 60's, but...

Yup - he got it exact, right down to it being the deluxe 770 series.
The tell-tale on the Lancer vs the Valiant is the continuation of the eyebrow line on the fender. On the Valiant it goes straight, on the Lancer it dips down. Lancer's got different tail lights, too.

I would love to have one of these to fix up. Drop a 360 in it, upgrade it with some front discs and rallye wheels. Oh - and KEEP the pushbutton trans shifter.

I was hoping I would have Barto stumped a bit on this one....he's tough!

Not tough, but lucky. The Valiant was an "European" American car. A friend of mine had one (saloon version) 25 as a daily years ago so I knew the model. I was not surprised KK ask for a derivative as a Plymouth or a Chrysler would've been too easy.

I'll look at a nice one wagon to amaze you. It'll be there ASAP...
