Finally found the other letter that I was thinking of.

 

I have always been aware of the Canadian sacrifice and contributions to the Allied war effort and even now in Afghanistan. Fret not my northern brothers and sisters. I love Canadian cars, the unique to Cananda ones like the Beaumont, the Rideau, the Mercury trucks and even the uniquely built Pontiacs with Chevy engines and underpinnings. A good friend from Newfoundland also resin cast me some tail lights in 1/25th scale so I could complete my model car project of a 68 Beaumont, after I sent him a rare 1968 Pontiac dash board so he could cast the correct dash for his 1968 Beaumont. Hands across the border!

 

I drive a Canadian car (88 Colony Park).
I eat pasta made from Canadian wheat.
Egg McMuffins are made with Canadian 'bacon.'
I once loved a beautiful woman from Montreal.
So I like Canada lots.
But will you PLEEZE keep your damn cold air at home?

Hands across the border indeed! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima It's interesting, as a Canadian, I always spent more time analyzing what was American about Canadian cars rather than appreciating their uniqueness. Almost like I felt they were knockoff's of their superior American built cousins. I've mended my ways somewhat and I'm proud to drive a Canadian made '81 Parisienne now. Getting closer to my roots as I get older I guess.

 

Not to mention...as the history books will tell you....
....the ONLY country that has ever kicked the USA's butt in a war....

I've towed 180 miles on the end of a 40 foot chain, in Ontario. I doubt they'd let that happen anymore. 40 years ago. I'd never do it again. One scary trip.

Its our dam Premiers who sold us out to California's Emission standards. sheeple and wimps. Manitoba is half the size of Mexico with 400,000 vehicles, including dogsleds and tractors. Less than the entire state of Wyoming, and they're imposing emission standards on freekin' skidoos, lawnmowers and snowblowers!

 

Now....that IS freakin' ridiculous!!!

 

I read a heard a statistic that said if the government here actually had to enforce their proposed regulations they would have to take EVERY car in manitoba off the road!

 

In as much as it can be a royal pain, I've never understood why the emissionss standards weren't applied to lawnmowers and snowmobiles first. The emissions levels are higher with a small 3.5hp two-cycle engine with 25%-30% of the oil and gas being unburned and released directly into the air. That's assuming that it's been given regular maintenance and is running properly, I know mine never was. A typical lawn mower, during an hour of operation, emits the same amount of pollutants as eight new cars being driven at 55mpg for the same amount of time. To me this is a no-brainer, if something needs to be restricted, it should have been two-cycle engines in the first place. ...but of course, that doesn't help out the big three does it?

I hated watching the clouds of exhaust that came from my mower and string trimmer. A few years ago I ditched my trimmer for a battery model and bought a battery operated robot mower from these guys.

It's not nearly as efficient as my wife's old reel mower, but it sure is cool to mow the lawn while sitting on the deck with a frosty beverage.

 

And motorcycles....
I'd love to see them mandate a catalytic converter on all Harleys...

 

I'd be happy to just have tougher muffler enforcement on Harley's. I think we all complain about the aluminum block 4-bangers with their Tomato Juice can mufflers. I don't find Harley's to be any quieter.

 

Especially when there are a bunch of 'em...
