    With gas prices jumping up in prices in a dramatic way I have started looking for ways to make mods and tips on how to get better gas mileage.
    This is one site I came across a while back and decided to do some reading there are some interesting ideas there to help with gas mileage, with some commonsense a person could pick up extra mpg.

    Intersting site, I'll be browsing it a bit more. For the most part I just keep my engines tuned, oil changes etc. Don't floor the gas pedal all the time is the simplest way to save on fuil.

    I really like the propane set up in the Buick, it is a cheap car to operate.

    I have been looking at several things one that Norman pointed out to me is water injection, warm air intake instead of a CAI.. But there's other things like synthetic oils for the engine,trans,and rear axle,posi unit for the rear, rejetting the carb with smaller jets to boost economy. Things like that,maybe we can get members here to make a mod to see how well it works for fe?

    CAI = Cold Air Intake.

    There are a couple of guys in the Saturn community running some strange, but effective systems to suck warm air into the engine and getting in the high 40's and low 50's mpg. Granted your performance suffers, but if mileage is what you are after it is an option.

    Now while it is known a 4bbl carb gets better gas mileage than a 2bbl carb correct? But why couldn't a 2 bbl be re jetted with smaller jets run as well as a 4 bbl and get better gas mileage than a 4bbl?

    Just throwing a idea out...would'nt that starve a engine of fuil, and inturn you would need to have a heaver foot on the peddle, witch inturn would use more gas and not save?

    Install a vacuum gauge, and watch how your foot backs off. Mine runs at about 20 psi at idle. If I keep it around there or about 14 psi, my MPG almost doubles. I also have a trip meter in the speedometer and that tells me how much per tank, then per gallon. 25 MPG City driving.

    Ah... Brass floats are the best, with PVC floats a close second, and cork floats NFG. I'd get another one, prep it and install it in nicer weather.
