I didn't happen to have any Bardahl but I did have a different rad leak product in the garage so I put that in to let me drive
it to the shop last night. It seemed to slow it down somewhat but not stop it completely.

Unfortunately, it looks like all of my work won't have done me any good. The $360 fine is due after 15 days which is Sunday. Since the courts aren't open on weekends that means my deadline is tomorrow. Even if I take it in and it passes an emissions test today, I still have to go and stand in court for who knows how long to dispute the fine. After two days off, the work tends to pile up and I'll have to catch up at the office today and tomorrow.
I could take it and get the emissions test done this morning but bringing the engine up to speed for the test will aggravate the rad leak, and coolant has been spraying into the air intake. I'm not convinced that isn't part of the emissions problem.

The ticket gives me 3 choices:
    1) Guilty - Pay $360
    2) Guilty - Pay less than $360 or take longer to pay
    3) Not Guilty - Provide proof that the evidence is incorrect

Options 2 and 3 both require me to take an undetermined amount of time off of work and have to be done today or tomorrow. I'm thinking that I'll just have to pay the $360.

$360 tax grab. Here, they won't inspect cars older than 15 years old. Too many older vehicles on the roads outside of Winnipeg. They'd shut the Province down.

Pay them and do the repairs like you know they should be done. You can't rush safety in a vehicle.

Damned if I would pay that. I would go to court....tell the judge you know the guy was wrong and that the car will pass. Maybe he will set another court date so you can get it tested and bring the papers back to court. That should give you time to get the car right too. $360 is a lot of money to pay for a test that could be right and could be wrong on any given day. I would tell the judge that you just bought the car and I would show the judge that it passed in 09 and ask that you be able to take it to the place of your choice to have it re-tested. OR....even the place of HIS choice. As long as it isn't with the same dickhead that did the last test.

Silverfox, his Province has a 200 billion debt. If he gets a Roadie-powered judge, that might work, but otherwise, he's suckin' air in two-four time. Ontario and Quebec are putting out all kinds of new untax, taxes. Mine is just starting. House assessment for 2012 came in at 15% higher last week. Nobody's buying, and the population is going down, here. Too cold, and not enough new factories.

We'll probably see violent protests here, like in the UK, Greece, Ireland, Spain, Italy, against political 'austerity' without cutting wasteful spending on bling and legacy projects.

Sorry to hear that and it's a damn shame. It's happening all over the world. The G has decided it's time to move in on the final take over. The big money globalists are winning (have won?) and I had better stop talking about it here. You can't know how incensed I am about it.
THAT'S why I would go to court. I would tell the judge the guy was dead wrong and I can prove it.

I took the Roadie in this morning for an e-test. I figured I might be able to burn some holiday time tomorrow and get an extension or a reduced fine if I could show up with a passed test. Unfortunately, after cleaning the EGR and running Seafoam through it, the car still failed the NOX portion with a score of 790 (460 over the allowable limit).

It's scheduled to head in to my mechanic now on Monday so I guess I've got no choice but to pay it tomorrow if I don't want to waste a day sitting there just for the right to get the deadline extended. That way I'll get it fixed right on my own time.

Good evidence that you've been trying to get it right. Lets hope you're first on the docket. Where's Judge Judy, when you need her!:rofl2:

Haven't checked. I bought my code reader for my 2000 Grand Marquis and it's only good for ODBII.

A few trips round the Buickforums and GMLongRoof seems to indicate that this isn't uncommon. Phantom309 had similar problems with his and I've seen several others have issues. So far I haven't found any specific details on what's causing it. There are so many that do pass, that it must be something that's fixable. I presumed that this one had been given low grade gas all it's live and the family indicated that the previous driver never went over 40km/hr. It doesn't seem unreasonable for it to be a little carboned up. Dunno why I can't get it cleaned out though. The guy at the testing centre said that he has seen non-OEM cats plug up much easier than OEM. Perhaps somebody got cheap when the cats were replaced in 2007. The bill shows $300 for both cats plus labour. Not to say that the garage didn't use crappy parts I guess. I suppose too, given that the shocks are bad, the cats may have been damaged if the car bottomed out at some point.

Woo Hoo!! My Factory Service manual arrived.

Brand new and still in the package!! I'm dying to open them up...but the comic book collector in me is loathing the concept of opening a sealed bag.:rofl2::rofl2:
