Bad front door speaker in 1986 Merc Colony Park. The original is a Ford E5UF-18808-AB. Can't seem to find one online. Suggestions appreciated. Thanks.
See if this place has one, I've bought several speakers from them over the years. http://www.turnswitch.com/services.htm
Not that I have anything against OEM parts, but when it comes to anything electronic, using todays technology would be my choice.Especially when it comes to speakers because you don't see them anyway .
There is pretty much an industrial standard in sizes and mounting. Since all speakers are hidden I think all you need is to find the size and put pretty much anything in there. Else... raid a scrap yard for a parts car! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima
Hi, you should find a JL-Audio dealer, this is a very good american products I work with them at my job, speakers are very good sound and good sensitivity, it's better than OEM speakers. and it's not very expensive, around 120$ / pair of speakers you can check products at http://www.jlaudio.com/ http://www.proshopaudio.com/02_02_03.asp
im with tanner and chopt50 oem sucks and if you can replace the original with something better that fits...go for it. up till the last few years i had never heard a factory audio system that blew me away....except for the ford mach audio 1000w found in the mustang and cobra. as of late ...the lexus systems and lincoln systems are killer
Well, guys, I've got street rods with huge/quality stereos. On this 1986 Colony Park, however, I just want to keep it simple and original. I was able to find a functioning original digital radio and all the speakers but one work. Thus, the desire to locate one working original Ford 6.5 speaker. Thanks for all the input. ...now I still need to locate that speaker!
Door speaker Are you sure it's the speaker? That fat harness entering drivers door is notorious for broken speaker wires. I've had mine repaired twice now. Check continuity first. If you need an OEM speaker, I've got 2; you might want a spare. Doug
I can understand the keeping it simple and origonal, I've kept the stock radios in all my cars. If you were looking for a stock speaker cover that would be another thing, but it's just a speaker your after, You mite find a stock one rite away but chances are not. You can get new ones basicly tommorow.
One of the problems you will have with the original replacement is that the paper cones are brittle so the sound quality is way down. Unless you find one from an 88 or newer Premium or High Level Sound package car, I would go aftermarket. 88 was when Ford went with the polypropylene cones on the high end JBL speakers. I can tell you from experience, they work, they last, and the sound is really very clear, even after all these years. My set (all 6 from an 89 Grand Marquis) are in car number 4. All you need is a good pair of amps. They are high resistance, so are just a little power hungry.
