25 ashtrays and not one cupholder. I just need one cupholder. When I get my coffee at mickeys dees I have to do more juggling than a one armed busker. Didn't there used to be portable type consoles that had beanbag type bottoms so they sat flat-ish and gave it a bit of stability that were pretty plain Jane but at least you had a cupholder and a little empty square to throw your change. Canadian tire has some consoles but none of them sit right in the car whether it be on the floor or on the seat beside me. Any ideas? Or pics of your center console? And NOT ones that came as part of the equipment, like the flip down, flip open one in my roadie. It's for a 1988 buick electra estate.
I bought this at the wallmart it came with two short screws to attach it to the carpet. Amazon also has wedge cup holders. http://www.amazon.com/Custom-Access...TF8&qid=1382907174&sr=1-4&keywords=cup+holder
A console with a cup holder will be hard to find, and you most likely have to swap front seats. Some other members have done this swap with your body style wagon, lets hope they come around and give you the ..... "this is what I swapped it with" I have basically the same tranny hub cup holder s JPC posted in my Buick, and I also swapped front seats and console with cup holders in my blue 83 olds from a 200? Chrysler Concord and the colour match was dead on, so.... I can and does happen, just do it rite ........You eat at McDonalds,,,,eeewwwwwww!
I bought a cheap one from Wally World for the time being. I'd really like to make my own. There's plenty of forum threads on the subject out there. You basically start with some MDF, and maybe some 1x2's for bracing underneath, cover with some foam, then vinyl or cloth. Should be a good project.
No I dont eat at Mcdonalds. ....but I like their coffee. Even though I am Canadian doesn't mean I like tim hortons coffee. ....ysch..crappy coffe, terrible lids and non insullated cups....no free refills! Mcdonalds coffee all the way. ....see?...need just one cupholder
I am also looking for the bean bag type . Something that looks period correct for my 58 Coronet . They do not seem to be available anymore ? I've been looking at the local wrecking yards For one ? Pull and Pay. ETC.
Apparently those cheap portable cup/coin holders are no longer being made. Probably because all new cars have 6 or 8 built in. I'd check yard sales and flea markets if they have those there. As mentioned, maybe salvage yards with older 7o's and 80's vehicles. Fat Tedy is gonna build me a small coin holder to replace the ashtray. I don't smoke but I drink Hardee's coffee. Those places are also becoming rare. Until then remember the little old lady who spilled her McD's coffee on her body and sued. Hot coffee is sometimes hot and you have been warned.
I also bought mine at Walmart. It's larger than the previous one pictured. The bottom is contoured to fit the hump and the cupholders are adjustable to fit different sized cups. It could be used on the seat as well. It's made by Hopkins Manufacturing out of Emporia, Kansas.
All they gotta do is put down the McDonalds coffee and start shopping in the big box stores. And stop cheating poor old men out of their cars!
When I picked up the CP I needed something for Nan's big gulps for the 960 mile trip home so picked up some of those plastic holders that hook in between the window and the door. Got four at Wally World for a couple of bucks and seemed to work OK. Big Styrofoam cups were a bit hard to get out as the fingers tended to bite in a bit but for the money no complaints. mike
I forgot about those. I had some blue ones. Only problem is forgetting you have a nearly full Gulp and slam the door. I even remember in the good ole days when I had my first car, 1949 Dodge, in 1956 into early 60's. I went to Western Auto and bought a specaled grey metal tray that mounted on a swinging out arm to the bottom lip of the dash. It had two nice deep cup holders. This got used a lot at the drive-in movie while watching cartoons. Then again, that's when cars had real metal dash's with a rolled metal lip to hang things weighing over 6.3 oz.
