We have some very cool wagons and I was wondering if anyone wanted to share their stories of recognition. I have only has my wagon for a short time but so far my sons friends have shown the wagon alot of love. His friend said it is the best car ever and couldnt stop telling his parents how he got to ride in the way back. After a baseball game one day, the best player on our team says to my son, Johnny you have an awesome car. The parents are always talking to me about the wagon and sharing stories of when their parents or grandparents had one. Today a cool custom truck goes though the intersection I was sitting at, beeping his horn and the passenger was hanging out giving me a thumbs up. I like when the kids react positively, hopefully it will create some car nuts for the future.

Not so much for my CP I had, because it looked like Hell drove over it, but supposedly, it ended up in the movie "Evergreen;" usually, it's for my Ranchero that I get recognition.

just yesterday , 2 instances, both at traffic lights: a lady in an older small SUV pulled down her window and went: OMG, that is beautiful! reminds me so much of the wagon we grew up in!! We chatted for a moment until green light. The other was a guy in a brand new Lincoln Navigator, which I oogled in my rear view mirror as he drove up, turned down his window too and "man, that is a nice wagon! Waht year etc. They just keep coming and I am loving it.

It's kind of funny but I was at a local cruise night last summer but left the 85 Mercedes wagon with the regular cars outside of the meet, meanwhile a number of people who were taking pics of the vehicles at the cruise night were also going out to take pics of the Merc.

I can just about guaranty that every time I drive by the front entrance to Wally World, on the way to my local big-box home improvement store next door, some middle-aged or older guy walking with his wife is going to POINT AT MY WAGON. Sometimes, it's a younger guy - who has no idea what it is. And PLEASE, don't mention to me it looks like the 'Vacation Movie wagon'......... Grrrrrrrr

It happens to me almost every time I take the Fury out.

My youngest son loves the way back. His favorite pass time is waving to people in cars behind us. I get a great view watching in the rear view mirror and inevitably there will be an animated conversation taking place in the vehicle behind me pointing out the rear facing seat.

Just the other day I had an older gentleman in an Explorer slow down next to me to give a very emphatic thumbs up.

When the weather turns nice there are lots of neat cars out cruising, but it seems people seem to gravitate towards the cars that they connect with. For many that is a station wagon.

You think you have it bad? You're not the guy who repainted his wagon green!

I mean, I did choose a nice late 1990's GM Emerald Green with metallic flake, which looks NOTHING like the puke green of that car, (which was not a GM)
But still, I do have a green station wagon, so EVERYONE associates it with that movie!

I honestly do not care what anybody else things about any of the cars that I drive, but I was surprised at how many comments I got on my wagon when my son and I drove it back to Michigan from Seattle. I recall one kid running the register at a gas station somewhere in Montana trying to clarify which pump I was at and mistakenly calling my car a toboggan (momentary brain fart I presume) until the words "station wagon" popped into his head. Must be all the fake wood on the sides.

I think it is more a result of these cars standing out so much from the endless sea of SUVs and trucks people drive around these days. Fifteen years ago nobody would have said anything about my car or probably most cars on here.

That's true. Sign of the times I guess.

When I was in High School there were a lot of of folks who made fun of the fact that I drove a station wagon (yes, you read that right. I drove the Fury in High School) Most who did referred to it as a hearse or as "The Ghostbustermobile"

Now a days however the comments
    are
    overwhelmingly positive.

Growing up we always had a big Chrysler wagon, like some others I got teased about it but I always pointed out that the load floor and curtains made a nice playroom.

I had the opposite reaction in Highschool, it was the party wagon and is actually the first pic in our Highschool yearbook. It was painted with Greyhounds (school mascot) and it was usually packed with kids on a way to a party or school event.

In person, it would have to be at a yard sale last year; possibly in September. A fellow at the yard sale in his 50s or 60s liked it. I only drove it once so far this year, yesterday, so I haven't had many chances for people to talk about it. It seems like people are looking at it though.

I have a Brown 1990 Mercury Grand Marquis and I still got associated with Chevy Chase in June or July 2017.
