While cruising along the Delaware interstate yesterday I came upon this pimped out school bus. With its wood siding I started to think about what makes a wagon. Things like lots of seating, lots of utility, some have wood appliqué, a back door....

So even though this isn't a wagon I thought it was cool enough to share, especially with it's wagon like features.

Cool! NOT a wagon, but a cool people-hauler/party bus, for certain. I love the giant Bellflower pipes! That and the woodgraining separate this from the average bus conversion. The chrome wheels help, too.

Your right it's not really a wagon. But it sure looks pretty cool with the wood...that's a lot of timber...:yup: The long pipes look good too.

Well it's a loooooooooooooooog roof, it has wood grain sides, it has lots of way back seats, it'll haul enough sheets of plywood to build a house. It has plenty of side windows to see out of. It's way kool.
But dang there is no tail gate or lift hatch. Could be a sedan delivery with that rear door?
    I guess it's a mini----- no a maxivan. Or an SUV.:rofl2:

If you can get everyone to agree to a definition of a station wagon then you need to take the next step and negotiate peace in the middle east. Everybody has their own definition:

    -full frame
    -rear wheel drive
    -V8
    -fold down tailgate
-based on a four door sedan
-proportions of front and rear overhang relative to wheelbase
    -ad nauseum

You can always find an exception to a rule and I guarantee that there are exceptions to every one of the criteria listed above than people have thrown out to try to define a station wagon.

In response to your question. I would call that a bus.

Apparently it still has all or most of the bus seats considering all of the windows are still uncovered.
And since many think it is a bus and not a stationwagon, or motorhome, I figure it may be used to transport church groups or maybe a band. A church band?
When I was but a wee lad there was a small church across the street from our house with a name I can't remember. However on Sundays and possibly other times thru the week lots of yelling and strange sounds came from within. As nosey children sometimes do we would peek in the windows and see people rolling on the floor. They were known as Holy Rollers. Could this be their bus?
Holy smoke!:rofl2:Possibly they will help with peace in the Middle east.

A station wagon MUST have a V8, full frame, and fold down tailgate? Didn't we have this discussion back in June? Again, based on your criteria, my unibody, rear hatch 1962 F-85 isn't a wagon (yeah, I know the picture is a 1961 model...). Or are your criteria so open to exceptions as to be meaningless.

Those are not my criteria. Those are some of the criteria I have seen other people throw out there in previous discussions. I drive a FWD, 4 cyl. uni-body, non fold down tailgate vehicle without enough overhang so I really don't make the list.

    Here's how I view a Station Wagon:

It's a car based on a Sedan but with an extended section on the back where the trunk would've been; Also has a door on the back.

Plus the earliest station wagons, known as depot hacks, had only four-cylinders, then six.
Also according to the F-85 description and photo it's a hatchback sedan.
So I say the first picture with the large wood grained vehicle might be a station wagon to some.
Most SUV's are so close to being station wagons that the fine line that separates them gets all broken and wiggly too.

A lot of the new sporty pick up trucks with a bed no bigger than a good sized sedan trunk would fall into that catagory too.
To me if it looks like a station wagon it's a station wagon. Of course other people look at things differently so opinions vary.
My daughter calls her SUV a truck as do some Suburban and Suburban like vehicle owners. A truck has a bed. Of course so does a motorhome and an RV.:slap:
    What was the question?

IMHO,what makes a wagon is it's ability to haul the groceries, kids & dogs through the week and building supply's and camping gear on the weekends.

Our wagon started life at the Norfolk,Virgina Ford plant and was equipped with a inline six and 3 on the tree,so they don't necessarily have to have a V8 or 4 doors. HRP
