What option did your wagon come with that you DON'T have, but wish you HAD? My 1977 Ford Country Squire Wagon had a magnetic checkerboard as an option. I saw one in a YouTube video. Pretty rare. Also the swivel "captain's" seats are cool.
My '81 Pontiac Bonneville Safari was 'moderately' loaded - power windows, locks, driver's seat; cruise and tilt, roof rack and wood paneling, and an AM/FM stereo (no tape), and factory climate control (not just A/C..but it was a funky system to begin with. 'Regular' A/C would have performed better....). I liked that it was fully equipped. There was one thing that I wish it didn't have though - the 'wood' paneling. By the time I bought the wagon in 2012, some of the material was peeling, and even more pieces of it peeled off as time went on. If you don't have an enclosed garage to keep your classic station wagon in, I wouldn't recommend one with 'wood' paneling.
Sounds like your Pontiac is pretty loaded and you are happy with what you have (except for the wood and climate control). When next tire change is due you should go white walls! Just a suggestion. Beautiful car. Back in the early 70's my neighbor had a Bonneville Sedan that had a timing issue and had a very hard time starting. Every morning my brothers would get up and dance to the starter sound until it finally started! lol
More horsepower, except for my Audi A6 which had the highest horsepower option possible, in its line-up. All wagons are underpowered
Mine came with the heated windshield option. However, the windshield was replaced, but cheaply. No replacement heated windshield. But all the control electronics are still there, and is controlled by the same switch for the rear defroster. So since the alternator is different (side-term 1G), if it goes out, it's a hassle to replace (took me a week two years ago), and if the window electronics still work, the alternator output is changed to 70VAC, to drive the heating grid! So I don't want to run the risk of a fire....
Definitely power windows. Every time I'm out in Sarge, people pull alongside and motion to roll down the window so they can ask. "What model and year is it?" I finally made a sign which I keep within my reach that says "1960 Chevrolet Parkwood - Not For Sale". Now they laugh when they see the sign. My wife loves it.
I would have liked to have my wagon come with factory air (I will install a dealer version), back up lights (I have a NOS kit for that) and power brakes-although I will add those at a later date. Mike
Had to buy a car in 2004 when I lost my company car due to a job change at work. Found this A6 Avant (a 2000 model) at the local Mitsubishi dealer. They were asking a fortune for it. I negotiated for a smaller fortune. I REALLY wanted a S6 Avant, but those were still going for big money then.
This is how cramped they were to work on. Lucky for me, I sold mine, before it needed its first timing belt replacement of which the dealer wants 10 hours labor for doing it A neighbor of mine gave me her A4 to borrow, so that I could travel over to the house she's moving to, for completing a re-wiring renovation. I'll include images, later on. It isn't as nose-heavy around curves like my A6 wuzz. Both are fast. But her's feels lighter. Both have great sound systems
Any… My only accessory as listed on the cowl tag is the full width front seat. I’m thankful that someone along the line did decide to add the heater option!
