Its amazing the stuff one just stumbles upon. I saw this and thought of Rev and his collection of wagons and how he may need to start storing them in a new way so that he has room for more.
Maybe, you should follow him and wait until he gets out to go get a taco. Then, peek into his driver's side window. If he really has a pocelain driver's seat bolted in, it's more than likely he isn't yet immune to e-coli bacteria or he's simply addicted to excessive hot sauce
Abandoned cars can be eerie enough on land but to see them underwater just ads a whole new level of unease.
Xavier, Being in Chicago, you should be used to those cars. The canals are full of them, especially out by Lemont. Many of them have skeletons in them. Used to be an old mob dumping ground.
A few of the auto body shops I went to used these to expand vehicle storage space. Proven technology, and fairly inexpensive, IIRC - around $2k each? You just have to be very careful so as not to slam your head into parts of them. I frequently had to examine cars from underneath while they were on the upper rack. Only down-side to them is it's sometimes very hard to get into a vehicle when it's parked on the bottom - especially if it's a larger American vehicle.
I've heard of them but I have yet to look for pictures. I have found some interesting underwater wreaks though. I know its not a car but it still has an air of the eerie about it.
Well, I'm from the Detroit area and our Mob did a little disposing also. In fact, one might even find intact barrels of booze next to those skeletons in monkey suits. In Vegas, their mob was even more creative. Legend says, they used to use disposed Mobsters as building material. I guess they thought that skeletons were strong enough to support casinos. Our beloved Teamster's Union boss is rumored to be holding up one of those buildings of ill repute
Joplin has a hushed reputation too. Supposedly those who crossed moonshiners and the local equivalent to the mob found themselves down forgotten mine shafts on privately owned properties. I know that the mines were closed literally over night. The miners clocked off went home and never went back. The machinery and trucks are still down there with the keys still in the switch. A lot of the mines are flooded now... but...
X - go to that Sheridan Road address and ask. I heard they're shorthanded right now!! And call me with a phone #.
I don't have your number anymore. I'm on my second phone since then and its not in service at the time. Are you talking about that place on North Broadway that you sent me to earlier this year? I can't remember one on Sheridan at the moment.
