To Joe’s point (JMT455) this is the exciting stuff on the forum. It so exciting to live vicariously through someone else’s “remodel”. The seats and interior look great Orthmann, and how fun that Nathaniel is in on the re do. Those boys are gonna have so many fun stories to share with their kids when the redo the seats again in 2064 for its 100th Anniversary. Thanks for giving me a smile - - haha at your expense. Lol

Thanks Mercman. When I told my wife that Nathaniel and I were taking the seats over to the shop she didn't realize my buddy wasn't home and asked why Nathaniel was going. I said "well, I can't lift the front seat out of the truck by myself. And besides, it's going to be his car someday, so he "gets" to help."

I think it will do the job nicely. I thought about getting some of that dynamat knock off stuff that the stereo shops use, but that was very expensive and honestly seemed like it would be very labor intensive to install.

Yeah, I understand the knockoff stuff's also expensive. It's good you found what you have.

Well, got quite a bit done on the interior this past weekend.
Got the insulation installed. That stuff was a challenge. It was tough to cut and molding it was no walk in the park, but as with most things, the more we worked on it, the more we figured out. I sent a photo to my buddy and his response was "Why is the carpet grey!?" :biglaugh:

    IMG_3387.JPG IMG_3385.JPG IMG_3389.JPG

After That we started with the carpet. It's molded, so it was much easier to get to the areas it needed to be, but also required lots of cutting and trimming. Fortunately the actual carpet was MUCH easier to cut than the insulation was.

I also bought new weather stripping to install since the original stuff was completely shot. I was hoping to get original looking stuff that has the sewn look on the windlace, but found that it's only available from a few sources online and VERY expensive. So I went with all black, which I was able to source locally for a fraction of the cost.

Nathaniel was a big help, as usual. I'm glad we are able to do these projects together. I think it will be neat someday when the Fury is his that he will be able to tell folks that he helped put the interior in this car when he was 11.

    IMG_3393.JPG IMG_3394.JPG

So, that's it for now. Next time we'll address a few small things we need to straighten out with the carpet, then we'll install the seatbelts and then finally the seats. It's been a process, (I'm still sore from cutting that insulation!) but it's been a good experience. The end is in sight and we're looking forward to being able to enjoy the finished product.

Thanks Fannie. Yes it is. I would guess that we'll have it all wrapped up this coming weekend.
The boys love to help. Makes the entire experiences that much more enjoyable and memorable.

It's certainly acting like it's spring! According to my thermometer it is currently 57* outside. This time last year we still had a foot of snow on the ground.

I think we have turned a corner. We have rain in the forecast for the next few days, but there is weather brewing for the weekend. Hope the weather is good and you get a test trip in to make sure those new seats work okay.
