I love that they took the time to put it under the canopy.

Sounds like you had a good day.

I always really the front end of the ‘63, and the sides and rear of the ‘64. That would have made the perfect car for me back in the day.

I like the 63's too, but the vertical lenses next to the headlights are not my favorite. I think they got everything right for 64. Then the trend started the other way again in 65.

Well, it's been a long time coming, but I am finally giving the interior of the Fury some much needed attention.

Before the end of the year I decided to bite the bullet and ordered kits for the front and middle seats as well as a carpet kit.

The seats were presentable, but I had them covered with rugs.

After 56 years they were a little worse for wear and it was time for some TLC. My buddy has a real nice shop at his house, so yesterday afternoon I drove the Fury over to his place and we got to work.

    Front seat:

    Rear seat:
    IMG_2713.JPG IMG_2719.JPG

So, out they came. Honestly I figured the seats would be the most difficult part of the process, but they actually proved to be the easiest.

The carpet was in really sad shape.
    IMG_2720.JPG IMG_2718.JPG

You can see there was a hole in the carpet in the front passenger's footwell. Unfortunately that led to some rust on the floor board.
    IMG_2728.JPG
But other than that, the floors look really solid. I'm quite impressed. IMG_2725.JPG IMG_2726.JPG

Yes, I know the blue is much lighter, but I think it will be just fine.

Seats were all loaded up and this morning I dropped them off at the upholstery shop.

Here's what the kits I ordered look like:

All in all I am very excited! I'm looking into different options for treating the rust in the passenger's side floorboard. I have used Por 15 products before, so I'll likely go that route, but we'll see.

So, that's it for now. Stay tuned for more updates. :thumbs2:

Thank you AnnaP. As long as I can remember the seats have needed TLC, but in recent years they have gotten really bad. It was time. It's always hard to make the decision to spend hard earned money on something for myself, but I know it will be worth it.

The door panels are amazing! I have to say Orthmann, I enjoyed your comment on “spending the hard earned money on myself.” I don’t know you, except through this site. But that sounds like something you would totally say. You are so committed to your family and those boys, it’s really heart warming. Yes it’s money that is coming out of the “family pot, but knowing you, it will be such a great teachable moment for the boys, and they will get such joy, out of your enthusiasm, I can tell you. It’s money well spent.

Mucho dinero. They were about $300 a kit, plus $200 for shipping. The carpet kit was $154.00 plus shipping.

I have to say the interior is in really good condition overall, considering it's age.
Thank you Mercman. That's very kind of you to say. For a few years now, anytime I have made a little extra money on something I've squirreled away some of it, called it "The Fury Fund" I didn't ever want to take money from our savings or the general fund so to speak. As you can imagine it has taken quite some time to accumulate the money to do this. Even though it's specifically for the car, it's still hard to pull the trigger on something like this. In fact, just recently our dog got sick, he's like a member of the family (as mentioned in previous post on this thread) and after all of his treatment the bill was over $600! I took the money I had left in the Fury Fund and paid the Vet bill. So this little adventure will likely be the last upgrades or improvements the Fury see's for quite some time.

Good to see an already beautiful wagon getting some additional attention....

Jeramiah, is the upholstery shop going to replace the seat foam, or do some repairs on the springs? I'm sure there's some work needed there as well after 56 years. And also, don't know why I didn't notice this before - you've got factory A/C! Rare for a '64 Plymouth. The '65 slant-six Dodge Dart I bought around '72 had factory A/C, and had similar vents.
