Picked this up for $100 yesterday, Honey is gona drive me to the shop this AM for me to bring it home and then I'm gona list it for $650 OBO and take what ever the first offer is, I can't loose on this one! 1999 Buick Century....... I was at the rite place at the rite time, owner had a scrap hauler on the way and was gona get a whopping $75 for it, I offered $100 and he cancelled the scrapper. Reason it was going to scrap was you can't turn the heater off, it stuck on high. Once I drove it back to the shop I was sweating like a pig and I had all the windows open. So I pulled out the fuse, no A/C now but you can drive it now with out getting heat stroke!. And yes I will be telling any buyers that I removed the fuse and why. Car is what it is, a good running, good driving clean get you from A to B beater with 3/4 tank of gas, and great tires, car actually drives very nice.
That car could be listed for $2k, even though the heater's disabled, but go no lower than your $650 price. I'm sure you can get more for it.
It's home and I'll be listing it later today after a wash and fast vacuum, that is the extent of time I will put into it. Oil is black so it has oil, water is green, radio works, stops and starts, does 60MPH down the highway with ease...... what more is needed for a beater?? Oh, you want a heater well then look at another beater! You want A/C well then drive by the ocean with the windows down I will take the first offer:2_thumbs_up_-_anima! Rite now I have transfer papers filled out by last owner and new owner is blank = I don't have to spend $35 registering it in my name (Yet!), just hand the papers to new owner. Longer I hold it, more I have to wash bird poo off etc ( I never bought a beater that was filthy)and if it hangs around because I want to be greedy it could sit and then I mite have to register it in my name. To be honest if someone walked up to me rite now and waved $200 in my face I'd take the money! Profit is profit IMO, fast turn around = less work in the long run, and I have not even owned the car 24 hours yet. I've made 20 phone calls since I got home spreading the word of "good beater 4-sale"
Too bad you're so far. This is pretty much the caliber of vehicle I'm finding around here except they're a lot rustier for that price range in Ohio. I've got six of these Century sedans on my watchlist from '97 to '03, priced from $600 to $1200, a black one, two white ones, a silver one, a green one, and a dark blue one. The $995 '03 in white has the least rust of them all but it's at a dealer and the ad is several weeks old.
Tedy drive or trailer it to NW Florida or near Peoria, Illinois and save 1000 miles. I'll give you $1000 for that beater. It's even a color I like. The easy quick fix is bypass the heater hoses. At least then the AC will work. I was worried when I saw your post title. You're too old to be doing flips. At least take time to bypass the heater and ask a lot more. You need the cash to work on your own crap. I knew I should have checked in sooner.
We need a heater in central Florida. Well not this week. We're under a heat advisory. So the AC would come in handy. Actually most places need a heater just so the defroster will work. If I had that Buick and coudn't figure it out I'd just add an inline heater valve in the hose with a choke cable type knob.
Sold and gone last night, first offer from the first person who came to view and YES I told them about the heater...... Told him, come winter put the fuse back in and you will all ways be warm. Even demonstrated the on/off or should I say insert fuse/remove fuse $350 = a fast turn around, get it the heck out of here, happy beater motering. All I did was a fast wash, no soap just the garden hose and vacuum! If only this could happen this easy all the time!:banghead3: Oh, and I never listed the car online. Sold via me blabbing to friends and a friend of a friend took it! So no tire kicker waist of time BS also witch to me makes the sale even better.
OK Tedy....... Now, you take that $350, and reinvest it in another vehicle, one you can double your money again on. Keep going, and in 4 months, you'll have enough to buy a Rolls........... (at least, that's how the Money Man explained it to me...)
