Someone here said...."can you imagine the stories these cars could tell?"
Pix like these make me very sad. Makes me want to rob a bank and bring every one of these old angels back to life. I just hate to see these once beautiful cars sitting and rusting. They actually look lonely. It's a sin.

They belong to the owners. If they need saving, offer up a sane cash offer and it might become YOURS.

Problem is, these cars get saved for whatever the reason the owner has, then people come along and offer a ridiculously low price for them. That pisses the owner off, and he keeps them, perhaps JUST to piss off people like you.

If you are truly interested in "rescuing" a car or truck in this situation, first off, is to have CASH in your pocket. Second, BE sincere and ask the owner about the car. Be prepared and have what you need to get the car if the owner does indeed sell to you.

Nothing chaps folks off like someone coming off self-righteous and smug, offering an owner nearly nothing for something, or worse yet, thinking that they have some sort of RIGHT to that car because the current owner "isn't doing anything with it". Check out the forums! There are plenty of morons out there that actually feel justified in simply TAKING a car or truck like that, under the cover of darkness!

Boy that would be fun to stroll through. Ye olde bone yards. Yeah they'd all tell great stories wouldn't they? Thanks

People like ME, Patrick80?? ...piss people off like ME?? Perhaps you didn't read where I said that these cars make me want to rob a bank so I could save them. I feel as you do about people that low ball old cars. So, your self righteous attack on me is misdirected and unjustified. And, incidentally, most of these cars are in junkyards across the nation not sitting in someone's backyard with a for sale sign on them. In the future, kindly refrain from lumping me into one of your generalized catagories that, apparently, your brain inisists upon. My love for old iron is real and dedicated. I don't need someone with predetermined ideas about buyer's of old cars cataloging me into some all inclusive group that does not reflect my true desires or intentions.

I did not attack you in any way. All I said is if that car is something you feel you want to have, go for it in a manner that doesn't insult the guy who owns it. Too many people feel entitled to what others have, and I did NOT lump you in that group at all.

I simply expounded a bit on what I was saying (in the second and third paragraph), not to include you in any way. When I read what I wrote there, that was clear to me, but obviously not to you. That is why I wrote a second and third paragraph, to separate the first part of what I said from the second. No need to get your feathers ruffled there, don't you think?

Pictures like that make me sad, as well. I've been working with old cars for nearly 35 years. I've had old cars in my yard before that people have simply stopped by, unannounced, and tried to buy for stupidly low money, and that simply pisses me off. What I have is mine, what you have is yours, and what others have is theirs. If it's for sale, it'll have a big-ass "For Sale" sign on it. No mystery here.

I don't know how to post with quotes but...here's what I read.....

.....offer up a sane cash offer and it might become YOURS
.....perhaps JUST to piss off people like you.
.....If you are truly interested in "rescuing" a car or truck in this situation, first off, is to have CASH in your pocket. Second, BE sincere and ask the owner about the car. Be prepared and have what you need to get the car if the owner does indeed sell to you.

With the continuous use of the words "you" and "yours"....what else would I think but that your comments were directed at me, the original poster?
If, indeed, I am wrong about the direction and intent of your post; I stand corrected.

I apologize for the misunderstanding. I went back and reread YOUR original post, and I think I misunderstood your original intent.

That's the problem with forum postings is that one can't always gauge the intended emotion of the printed word.

So true, Patrick. It is often very easy to misconstrue one's original intent.
    My apologies.

Boy, wouldn't it be nice if every one of those relics could find their way back on the road?

Yeah, it would be nice to see that, CapriceEstate. And every wagon ever made. I remember these old cars well back in the '40's. My dad had a gas station and these old beauties would pull in and out of there all day. As a kid I would pump gas into them and wash the windshield (as if THAT will ever happen again!). When I got into my teens I would work on these cars. They had a certain aura about them then and even more so now.

Is it possible to take pictures of these car in an artistic way and sell them as calenders?:camera:

The profits could go to restoring one of these beauties each year.
I think it's a good idea if shows like 'The Today show' and similar programs gave it the needed advertisement needed to sell all those calenders that would be needed to fund such an idea.

I remember this idea from a 1930's truck I passed on my way to work everyday in 1992.
I was so beautiful the way that it sat in the open field I drove by.

I'm glad to see you guys kiss and make up. :rednose:

Yeah, Homestar! I was thinking that same thing. Shoot pix of these in their present surroundings (artistically) then, in the lower right hand corner have a couple of smaller inset pix of that car in its golry days. I owned and operated an ad agency for 30 years and am familiar with the production of something like this. I started out as an ad artist and worked into photography etc and ended up in Hollywood as a director. Got out of Hollywood as fast as I could though. Only stayed 4 years. Anyway...your idea borders on another one I had...about a "Central Garage" for the group here.

wow...now that I've had 3 minutes to think about the possiblities that Homestar has offered about the calendar caper....it got my old creative juices flowing again. At the expense of bragging...I was sought after in the ad/marketing game as THE guy that could promote a company to the top of the success chart. I'll be 70 in July and people STILL beg me to study their company and develop strategies. I spent my life studying industrial companies, developing marketing plans and marrying up creative ad campaigns to the market strategy. With that said...I love old cars. Especially wagons. When I found this site I began to think of the possiblilities that this growing group could offer and, at the same time, make enough money to grow into THE "go to" place for saving old wagons. I'm serious...this could happen and could be self sustaining and profitable. I can't write everything here but I would hope that Stef and others would be willing to think about the possiblities this group has. And the end results would be more satisfying than anything I could think of. I would be willing to devote all my time and efforts to making this the TOP wagon site in the world with REAL (non-virtual) offsprings that would draw people and save wagons. A "Central Garage" Where people could actually bring their wagons for advice and work, fix and sell old wagons, memorabelia development for even more profitable sustenance, all under the name of this site. Think of the possibilities here! And it would cost no one anything but time. Time that you now spend on your first love anyway. STATION WAGONS!

A wagon calendar would be great! What would be ideal would be:

    1) A calendar with the junkyard finds
    2) One with restored cars from each decade,
    3) Woodies!
    4) One with pics of wagons in action, from the time they were new - vacation pics, hauling plywood, etc.

Realizing we are talking a pretty limited market here, I'd primarily be interested in a calendar in example number four. Number one would be next.
