... but I have no idea about this one.

Notice the barbell next to the driver's door. The seller gave up weight training and just dumped the barbell, with what looks to be about 50 lbs. of weights on it, out in the field? At the same time as the '59 was parked? Or later?

Notice also the pristine plates on the car. Those are from the early 80's, not '59. Was the car running then? Hmmm ... :hmmm:

Or maybe he used it to block the driver's side door closed?

Yeah, some ads create more questions than answers. Looks like it was someone's project at one time (blue door). The retractable hardtop Skyliners were pretty rare. '59 was the last year. One of my bosses at work restored a '58 -came out pretty nice.

The driver was a professional weight lifter from Ontario. After he was in an accident he had to replace the drivers door. At that time he realized he was strong enough because he handled that heavy door with ease. So he dumped the barbell in the neighbor's field.
He then had the car retagged with new license with the idea he'd start driving it again.
But his fear of being broadsided again made him trailer it back to the field and park it. This is also where he left the trailer and the barbell.
