Yesterday my daughter did her drivers road test. We all had done a lot of practicing and work with her and she took a driving school. Since the wavon was the car avaiable, thats what we used. A couple days before the test the smaller civic was ready to go and was offered. But she said "No, I want to drive the wagon"! So one last hour long parallel lesson and then the day of the test was here.

The drive instructor did a double take when they walked out to the car and all the other parents watched with a mix of horror and amuesment and I am most certain, envy and admiration! while she back out of the parking spot in the small lot.

15 mins later the car appeared with instructor still alive and breathing and the car unscathed. They sat in the car talking briefly then it was all over......

Good on ya! Mine took his test in my old '95 Ford F350 Crew Cab 4x4 Diesel. Same reactions form both the parents and the examiner. I was very proud of him! Parallel parking was not a requirement in the test then, unbelievably! It's cool to see the kids take the test in the biggest vehicle possible, which I think is a great idea! So many can't drive anything bigger than a Prius, and god-forbid if it has a standard transmission!

Tell your daughter "Good Job" I took my road test in a 64 Oldsmobile F85 station wagon. Now good luck to you trying to keep the boys away from your daughter! LOL.

That's awesome! When I took my first test, the folks at the time had the '66 Caprice wagon and the '63 Falcon I learned in. I wasn't allowed to drive the Caprice....... Thinking back now, I'm not sure I ever drove it. Now I'm angry.......

Got home and out the freeken door I went with my 67 Cougar, see ya later dad(y)

Congrats to your daughter!!! She looks very happy. I took my test in a 78 Vega two door wagon owned by my buddy, only car available that day and now I'm so glad it was a wagon. :)

Congrats to your daughter. Now she can drive anything. Our son drove my Dodge quadcab with a topper on it. That's what he learned mostly in and was confident he could handle it.
If mommy looks like her no wonder you get all those good deals on station wagons. :29:

Congratulations to her! To her Mama, though, all I can say is "HIDE THE ELECTRA!" Either that or start wagon shopping, in earnest, and soon!

Congratuations on "turning" another youngling!!!! My son (9) loves our wagon, but wife said he could not have it when he turns 16. I questioned that, and was told, "Would you let your daughter go off with a boy who picked her up in THAT?!"

Believe me it's not the size and shape of the vehicle parents need to worry about.

    Congrats!

    Hi,

I haven't visited the forum for a long while, but had to comment on this post. It's wonderful to see that your daughter passed her driver's exam with the big wagon. When I started driving, it was in a 1975 Ford LTD Country Squire. The registry inspector administering the test required me to perform a 3-point turn and parallel park that car - both of which I did and passed. So this really hits home. Great job! :thumbs2:
